Disputed Origin[edit]

Hello, as a professor of history I believe that there is some dispute/controversy about the origins of tnet-pegging; it is possible that it developed on parallel tracks in different parts of the world but as far as I know, the earliest recorded mention dates back to the 7th-8th century accounts by Arab authors/historians and even modern historians (e.g. Hitti, 1937; Spear, 1949; Thapar, 1962; Mughal, 1981; and Tarien, 1999) tend to favour the viiew that the sport probably had Arab/Middle Eastern origins dating back to the 3rd or 4th c BC, and was eventually introduced into India around the 10th or 11th century. 39.54.101.243 (talk) 04:04, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Prof Asad U Khwaja[reply]

I've added in a direct (and cited) quotation from the International Equestrian Federation, in which they say that Tent Pegging originated in India. I think they are pretty authoritative. However, if you have other sources (as suggested in your paragraph above) that suggest it originated in the Middle East, please add that too, just be sure that you give a full and proper citation of your source, so that readers can see that there are competing authoritative views on the question. You should not just delete the statment from the International Equestrian Federation because it is fully sourced and cited. Hooah12 (talk) 08:06, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikipidea editors I am not a regular registered editor but i have availed at various times of the opportunity of helping improve Wiki articles of my interest. i always sign my edits and talk notes. I added some links to 'External Links' but for some reasons all were removed automatically--i dont understand why? They related exclusively to Tent pegging as a sport and one was the Official Pakistan Olympic Association link--which serves in lieu of a formal tent pegging association link so far. Hello, this link to the Pakistan Olympic Assoc (as Pakistan doesnt have a separate tentpegging or equestrian sports site yet, this is the overall site/link) has been removed again. Deleting Local Club Links[edit]

dear wiki editors, seems that as per Wikipedia Regulations, links to local clubs etc are not in line with accepted Wikipedia standards? There seems to be a link to a local club in Sussex, UK, in the 'External Links' section and I am now removing it, in line with Wiki standards, please, thanks.
