Kazoo?[edit]

Most of this article seems to relate to the 'kazoo', which already has its own article. On that basis, I'd propose to remove most of this section. Scoop100 (talk) 15:29, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd propose to remove it on the basis that there is no evidence for ANY of these statements.Motleyjust (talk) 17:55, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Any citations or proof?[edit]

I can find no verification for the term Clegghorn as another name for a kazoo. Is there any citations for this?

I can find no verification that Thaddeus von Clegg was involved in the building of the first kazoo. Are there any citations for this?

I can find no verification that Thaddeus von Clegg existed. Are there any citations for this?

Is there any proof for any of the statements on this page? If there is, I would like very much to know them; If not, I would like this page to be removed. Motleyjust (talk) 13:11, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, there is no proof. The story of Thaddeus Von Clegg was almost certainly created from whole cloth in 1977 by a comedy-kazoo act called the Kaminsky Quartet.
The name, "Von Clegg," is almost certainly a reference to Col. Clegg, the title of a Pink Floyd song that features a chorus of kazoos.

An early version of the story can be seen at: The Pocono Record (Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania), May 4, 1977, page 20. Svaihingen (talk) 01:51, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
