Validity of the chart positions[edit]

There is a serious problem of validity with some of the chart positions, mainly the singles charts that are not listed on WP:GOODCHARTS or WP:OKAYCHARTS that are listed here. Argentina and the Philippines do not have a valid singles chart while Mexico and Brazil does not appear to had a valid singles chart before 2000s. So where all these positions coming from? Greek Charts[edit]

All Thalia's albums since En extasis (which was released in Greece in 1998) have charted in Greece. The IFPI catalogue was published in many Greek newspapers and magazines. The positions were removed for NO REASON. They were totaly true. How can someone from another part of the world assume that the positions are false? There are facts and many Greek pages on the Internet of that time. Especially in the era 1998-2005 Thalia's albums were always in the top 5 and many of them #1 like Arrasando, Thalia con banda and Thalia 2002. The En extasis album had reached #5 and Amor a la mexicana at #2. The MAD Channel (something like Greek MTV) was always showing the top albums chart on a weekly basis and there facts from magazines etc. Also, there are saved links from 2002 to 2005 from the old site of IFPI Greece, in which the positions of the albums appeared, but some haters removed the references because they just don't like them. It's ok to not be a fan, but considering that a whole market for an artist is insignificant, that's another thing. Because Greece has always been one of Thalia's strongest markets since the late 90s, especially here in Europe. It is among the first Non-spanish speaking countries that her albums were certified and fully promoted on TV and radio. Those who doubt her success in Greece, well go to YouTube and watch tones of videos from when she had come to Greece to receive her gold certifications, give interviews etc. She is a household name in music business in Greece, in the late 90s and first half of 00s she used to sell like Madonna in Greece, and sometimes even beating her. After 2005 however, she kept on being a bestseller but with definitely less success, since in 2008 the recording industry was destroyed because of the financial crisis, so not only she, but all the artists (especially the foreign, international artists) became less commercial. But removing ALL HER POSITIONS from the Greek charts is like trying to blank the memories of a whole nation. And I bet that many of her albums were more popular here than even in Latin America. They promoted her fully on daily basis. Radio, TV, commercials for her albums, music videos in all the music channels, interviews, Press, magazines, soap operas etc. She was an equivalent for the Spice Girls, after they separated and they tried to gain lots of money from her popularity here. It was me that erased the Greek charts in 2013, but I did that because I couldn't find any souce about its charts there. Now I found and put it again. You could have done it in 2013, since you knew a lot of reliable sources to the charts.--88marcus (talk) 22:05, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Mexican charts[edit]

@88marcus: Just a heads up, please don't use the charts from the newspaper archives. The chart listings are collected from Mexico City only which goes WP:SINGLENETWORK. Also do not bold positions as this goes against MOS:CHARTS. Lastly, Mexico should be first in the countries as that is her nationality per WP:DISCOGSTYLE. Monitor Latino did not come about until 2003, so no valid Mexican singles chart exists before then I'm afraid. As mentioned in SINGLENETWORK, the only time you can list a city is if no other suitable charts and it is where the artists, but they should never be placed on singles charts. @88marcus: Great job with the discography page! The only thing that still needs to be fixed is that the Mexican charts have to come first before all the other charts because that is her nationality, so the US charts should be last in alphabetical order. Thalá and her company, inflated her sales every year...[edit]

She has 'only' 3.7 million copies with certified sales. She's not a success in Europe, not in Japan (only one album has a gold cert. there, the other albums were not even top 100, except Sixth Sense), and her sales most came from USA and Mexico where she sold less than 2 million in each country. How this woman can sold this amount of records (25kk, 40kk, 50kk...)? In 2006 her record company EMI, gave her a Diamond Record, because she sold 10 million copies with the company with 10 CDs, but her fans change it to 22 million copies with EMI only.1 After that, she released Lunada, that didn't chart in Billboard 200, like her past albums and neither was certified. Her sales with Fonovisa were moderatte, and those 3 albums she released with them, sold all less than 500,000 each, none of them were released worldwide, except for a few counties where one receive a record certification for less than 30,000 copies. A lot of compiltions by Fonovisa were released too, but none of them get a certification, and were very limited in its releases. With her group Din-Din she didn't get success, so it's impossible she sold anything bigger than 50,000 copies. While in Timbiriche she released 2 album only, and according to the VHS released by the band, the first sold 250,000 in Mexico, but the band have not the same succsess outside the country, so it's impossible they sold more than 250,000 in other countries too.--88marcus (talk) 21:53, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
