Fair use rationale for Image:TELogo.jpg[edit]

Image:TELogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Contesting speedy deletion[edit]

It won an Eisner - one of the most prestigious comic awards. As it says this right at the start I can't see the grounds for not asserting importance. (Emperor (talk) 03:37, 26 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Do you KNOW if it won an Eisner? There is an unsourced claim that it is an "Eisner Award-winning" store with no category or year stated. Furthermore, I don't see any categories in the Eisner awards for a "store." If the store won such an award, a WP:RS reference should be available. If one can't be provided, then perhaps the claim to fame should be dismissed. OccamzRazor (talk) 05:13, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Claim to "Eisner Award" not supported[edit]

In researching further, I can't find any evidence that this store ever received an actual Eisner Award or that there is even a Eisner Award category for stores. This claim seems to result from an embellished claim about a far less significant award. "That's Entertainment" was one of 3 comics stores to receive a "Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award" from a local San Diego convention: Comic-Con International: San Diego in 1997. Does this establish notability? OccamzRazor (talk) 05:46, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • The "Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award" is the Eisner Award for comic stores. Eisner himself wanted the award instigated, it takes its name in part from his most famous creation, "The Spirit", and the award is, alongside the other Eisner Awards, under the auspices of the San Diego Comic Convention, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, the Awards Administrator being Jackie Estrada. From memory he also used to have a hand in judging them, but I'd have to source it. Describing the San Diego convention as a local con is intriguing, it's somewhat like saying the Empire State Building is a local New York building. The San Diego con hosts the Comic(s) Arts Conference, and is an internationally attended and regarded convention. Hiding T 10:52, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also, the award is given out at the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards every year. If they're not a part of the Eisner awards, it is odd that they are given out in the same ceremony, are under the same administration and share the same name. Hiding T 10:58, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Indeed - the award is assessed by the Eisner Award judges and presented at the San Diego Comic Con (one of the biggest and most prestigious events of the year) - it is not something given away frivolously and the store owners have to jump through various hoops to even be in the running. So yes winning it establishes notability. You can read more on it here. (Emperor (talk) 12:43, 26 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]
