Proposed merger[edit]

overthrew?[edit]

Should we really be saying "Poseidon overthrew him and became the new sea god.". That seems like bad genealogy to me... If Thaumas is the son of Pontus & Gaia... wouldn't that make him primordial? Primordials give rise to the Titans , which in turn give rise to the Olympians... the monologous term "god(s)" is counter-intuitive, especially so in this case. Thaumas isn't even in the wet domain... Thaumas is a boundary... the mirrors reflection, so to speak... If anything, Poseidon would have overthrown Pontus, but that doesn't even make sense!
