the New York Times headline of Nov 4, 2008, above the smaller announcement of Barack Obama winning the presidency of the United States, stated as such: "Acacia Strain Defines Metalcore". So there's your reliable source. Of course, there has been international debate, with the United Nations voting 118 to 31 against calling them metalcore, but its widely believed that voting was rigged by China in their bid to be the new center of all things core.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 02:54, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

Some little fuckwit changed the genre to emo, and put a whole lot of emo crap as associated acts, changing it back. I am changing the genre to Deathcore, as that is by and large, the genre that most accurately represents the band.

I agree with you on the fact that it IS deathcore, not emo but you should know that personal attacks are not allowed.

Deathcore?[edit]

I've listened to many of their songs and I feel they are metalcore. I don't hear too much deathcore in their sound. Thoughts? listen to continent. that album takes a bigger death metal approach. 95% death growls almost no screaming.

Meaning[edit]

Put it in the article, it's a common question and should be answered here. The meaning is metaphoric to the ugliness in beauty, originating from the acacia plant's disease strain that comes from the bugs breeding on it.

Not Deathcore[edit]

Deathcore is a fusion of Death Metal and Metalcore. Where do you hear any elements of traditional Death Metal. (ie. Blast Beats, Tremolo picking, etc.) Nowhere. It's got hardcore elements like Two-step riffs and breakdowns. The Acacia Strain is metalcore. I'll agree that a couple of their songs have SOME small death metal influences, for example to respond above, Skynet has a bit of blast beat drumming, but all in all they hardly have any death in them. They are too "brutal" to be just hardcore, so I think metalcore fits them best. Why with all the genre arguments?[edit]

They should just be left as Extreme metal and that's it, besides imo they have heavy groove type of sound and speed like bands such as Meshuggah, Ion Dissonance and new Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza. "Feud with Emmure" section[edit]

Although I can certainly see how certain recent edits to the portion of this article dealing with TAS's feud with Emmure could easily be considered too dubious and gossip-laden to be worth keeping, I think that my original version of it is sufficiently backed by sources so as to stay. While the two bands' feud is certainly surrounded by gossip and rumor, there is at least official confirmation from TAS member Vincent Bennett that it exists.
