Seriously Needs Rework[edit]

This must be the most confusing and disorganized article I have encountered on Wikipedia... It leaves me with the thought, "err, what?" 71.178.211.219 (talk) 12:47, 13 May 2009 (UTC) Agreed but there is so little information on the group apart from The Babys Archives. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.104.107.32 (talk) 04:58, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed a deal of trivia and unecessary detail, restored some links and started a tidy up.--Design (talk) 05:24, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article does need a fair bit of attention, in very recent years it appears that Michael Corby has emerged from virtual musical obscurity to correct many of the claims made by John Waite the singer over the origins of the band. It is stated in The Babys Archives that the band signed the first million dollar contract in music history with Chrysalis records. Corby also claims that no member of the band has received any remuneration as a result of record sales.

The history of the group is shrouded in controversy and whilst Waite, Cain, Phillips, Brock and Stocker continued as recording artists <possible BLP statement removed> —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.74.242.135 (talk) 17:01, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:BLP applies to talk pages as well. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 20:52, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also wondering if the lead contains too much info. As I understand it, the lead should be a "brief" encapsulation of the subject. I'd be willing to do the edit, but would like input before doing so.THX1136 (talk) 17:27, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
"This must be the most confusing and disorganized article I have encountered on Wikipedia" I take this as a compliment; it was probably my fault, it must have been about the time when Michael Corby broke his almost 30 year silence (1978-2007) about the group's origins. I believe there was a lot of "stealth" editing from those who supported Waite and those who supported Corby. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8004:1500:3F66:68DD:CF23:DA64:7664 (talk) 10:03, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Some good work on Albums and songwriting credits[edit]

There has been some good work by Capeters helping to list the group's albums and links have been tidied up for continuity and identification of associated songwriters like Jack Conrad, Ray Kennedy, Billy Nicholls, Chas Sandford and Mike Japp. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.74.246.19 (talk) 14:45, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Frequent Vandalism[edit]

There appears to be more vandalism than constructive efforts, the name appears to still cause a stir. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.74.146.118 (talk) 17:37, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

More information needed[edit]

Another authoritative account other than The Babys Archives needs to emerge to strengthen this article, john waite sites keep closing down.

Cain seems to say little about the group on his website but Phillips has some useful information. There were three john waite sites but they seem to be dormant netwaite.com and johnwaite.com as well as another site johnwaiteonline.com which claimed to be an official site but has shut down completely.

In the absence of any source as thorough and with as much documentary proof as The Babys Archives then the MySpace site of Michael Corby must be regarded as the best source for information about the group's origins.

Brock's website only mentions that he was a drummer with the group but again offers little information about how he joined, who were the original members and what part he played in the decision making within the band.

Few references can be found to Stocker and there do not appear to be any websites relating to him, let alone his views on the construction of the band. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.74.234.110 (talk) 17:10, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Corby[edit]

Michael has strong documentary evidence of planning and forming the band. The late Adrian Millar shared his aspirations and the band's four contracted members Corby, Waite, Brock and Stocker were the first band since The Beatles to have made a U.S. television appearance without having first done a concert tour - stated by Casey Kasem before announcing "Back On My Feet Again" at number 35 on the U.S. charts in 1980 during his American Top 40 show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.74.154.241 (talk) 08:03, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war emerging over use of name. Corby and Millar were original planners, financiers and legal owners of the name. It has never been sold or approved for use by any other party. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.149.29.82 (talk) 22:05, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Mansfield and Supersonic[edit]

There also appears to be a little bit of confusion over waite's account of when the contract was signed. Was it before or after the Mansfield videos of the group for Supersonic. I have included a reference to the videos as being around the same time as the signing of the contract which only included Corby, Brock, Stocker and Waite. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.74.227.39 (talk) 10:28, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

References needed...[edit]

All of the references that are online are dead, and they are also primary. WP:NMUSIC does not prohibit a song or album having an article without a corresponding band article. Conversely, that means there is no "requirement" to have an article on a band just because they have a notable song or album that does have an article. At present, it seems there are very few secondary sources, if any. MSJapan (talk) 17:40, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
