Picard's Stargazer model[edit]

Spike TV recently aired some 1st season episodes. The trivia here stated that the Stargazer model replaced a model of the Constitution Class ship in Picard's readyroom after this episode. But in the recent airings of "Where No One Has Gone Before" and "Lonely Among Us" which were aired today and produced before "The Battle", the Stargazer model was already in Picard's readyroom. According to page 22 of Nemecek's ST:TNG Companion, the model was included in Picard's ready room from the beginning of the series. Prior to this episode, it was a work model that had not yet been approved for use, and was not stencilled with any ship name or number. -RJASE1 23:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Constellation-Class model was in Picard's ready room from "Encounter at Farpoint". It is abscent, replaced by a Constitution-Class model, in "The Battle", and one other episode--either preceding or after "The Battle"--before being restored. This was done because, during production of "The Battle", the Stargazer was envisioned to be a Constitution-Class starship, like the movie-era Enterprise Refit. The model in Picard's ready room was replaced to match this latest development. Then, after live footage of "The Battle" was filmed, the producers had second thoughts, and the Stargazer as we know it today (matching the original model in Picard's ready room) was created. The only remnents of this chain of events is that, for two episodes, the Constitution-Class model replaces the Constellation-Class model in Picard's ready room, for no appearent reason. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.60.155.67 (talk) 05:43, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shield Inconsistencies[edit]

There are three minor inconsistencies in this episode. First, the Ferengi captain orders shields up on the Stargazer and then beams back to his own ship through them. Next, communications are abruptly cut off with the Stargazer, and Geordie says "it must have been when the [Stargazer's] shields went up", but the shields had gone up well before the cutout. Lastly, at the end of the episode the captain beams out while the shields are (presumably) still raised.

"The Stargazer was to originally be represented by the movie-era Enterprise model," -- Do you mean the Enterprise-A?

Well... the refitted Enterprise that originally appeared in the same film was the same model as they later used for the Enterprise-A. So I didn't want to specify A as it wouldn't have been quite correct. However, thinking of that now, the movie-era reference could be misleading as a new reader might think it was a reference to the new films by mistake. "DaiMon Bok (Frank Corsentino) who intends to use it as part of a trap to discredit and destroy the Enterprise captain." -- the plot section doesn't clarify this. If this is what appears in the episode, though, I think it would be better than just saying Bok wanted "revenge."

For continuity, you might want to note in Production the next time the Ferengi appear.

I'll have to double check the books tonight - I think after this episode they changed the way that the Ferengi appeared on screen, and they were no longer used as "baddies" but instead more for comedic effect. One nitpicking thing that I have a reference for but isn't in the article is that prior to the episode before this, the model of the Stargazer in Picard's ready room was the model that would become Constellation-class. However, because they planned to re-use the Constitution-class model, during the previous episode and this episode, the model in the ready room is actually a Constitution-class ship, and not the same class of the Stargazer which would be inserted in post production.
