Removing excessive plot[edit]

I simply reverted the excessive plot summary that had been added. Plot summaries of television episodes should not be much longer than 500 words (Wikipedia:Manual of Style (television)#Plot section); this one was over 1,200. This does not only make for poor article structure, but could potentially violate copyright law, even if the text is the editor's original work (Wikipedia:Plot-only description of fictional works#Avoiding violating copyright). I don't mean to discourage new editors, but copyright violation is something that must be taken seriously. A slightly longer plot summary, of some two to three paragrahs, would still be welcome. Date[edit]

Were there any clues for when this episode took place? Here are the ones I remember: Joan's husband is still at basic training - putting us within 9 weeks of June 20th Sally was at summer camp - it is still summer Roger asked Joan what her plans were for August (in the beginning of the scene before he finds out about her husband being called up).

My best guess is late July, but I'm wondering if there were any clues I'm missing? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.206.238.245 (talk) 22:43, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I actually tried googling some of the TV background dialgoue in the episode to see if I could get a clue when the shows were aired (though come to think of it, they would have been summer reruns), as you'd be surprised what's out there, but no luck. It's got to be midsummer sometime, but I don't think you'll get more accurate than that with this one. Late July, perhaps very early August. Long enough from mid-June that Don and Faye have developed a comfortable sexual relationship, close enough to late August that people are discussing Lane's vacation then. I'm guessing before the Watts riots of early-mid August, as that was an event people would likely be discussing. Moncrief (talk) 02:47, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Found something! The TV dialogue starting about 28:25 ("I was hoping you'd come home. We have a much more serious problem...") is Lily Munster in The Munsters episode "All-Star Munster," which first aired on January 14, 1965. See http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0028730/quotes for dialogue (and in MM you hear the next lines there too) and http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0653043/ for episode date. Now, all someone has to do is find out when the summer this episode was repeated. On the case! The funny thing is that the link in this chain I *don't* doubt is that the Mad Men people actually researched to make sure this episode really did air in repeats on that particular summer night.... Busted! According to http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=117593 (scroll down), that episode did not repeat during the summer of 1965. Hmmmmm..... Moncrief (talk) 03:58, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
