Hype[edit]
Could someone possibly take a hatchet to this entry and sort the hyperbole from the facts? The "influential Black List" is as much a product of Hollywood self-aggrandisement as it is any kind of genuine script-hunting enterprise.
For instance, appearing on the 2011 list is Django Unchained. Really? Does anyone really think Tarantino had no production deals in place when the script was out there? Even more risible is the inclusion of Margin Call on the December 2010 Black List - oh wait, no, I'm sure it helped that film "find" a producer so that it could be planned, cast, prepped, shot, edited and be ready to premiere at Sundance in January 2011. The Black List is now a screenplay evaluation website, not an annual list[edit]
This entry may have been correct five or ten years ago but this isn't how the Black List works now. Now the Black List is a website. You (an aspiring screenwriter) pay $75 per evaluation plus $30/month to have your script rated on a scale of 1-10. If you get five 8's or higher then your script is "Recommended." I don't think there's an annual list anymore. The "list" is now all the "Recommended" screenplays, which is continuously updated.--TDKehoe (talk) 15:27, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
