Another day, another boat race....

Lead[edit]

  • "three-and-a-half lengths" - are the dashes necessary?
I guess not, dehyphenated. The Rambling Man (talk) 11:09, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Background[edit]

  • "one constructed by Waites" - who is Waites (only mention in this article)
Yes, it was the only mention of them in the sources I have. I have tried to find out more but nothing doing. The Rambling Man (talk) 11:09, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • What does "1st Trinity" mean in this context? All I know it as is a Sunday in May or June.
Well it's one of the Trinity College Boat Clubs so I've linked it to Trinity College Boat Club. The Rambling Man (talk) 11:09, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Crews[edit]

  • "who had been educated at Geelong Grammar School" - I'm not sure this is exactly on topic for a boat race article, none of the other crew members' pre-Oxbridge education is mentioned
No, but he was the only foreigner, and it supports his foreignness. The Rambling Man (talk) 11:09, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Drinkwater described the Oxford crew" - who is Drinkwater? (First mention in this article)
"Author and former Oxford rower... " added to clear this up. The Rambling Man (talk) 11:09, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Race[edit]

  • "As the bend of the river began to favour the Surrey side of the river" - I think this needs rewording, I don't think river bends have personal opinions
I'm going to disagree here. It's commonplace to note that the bends in the river favour one station or the other. The Rambling Man (talk) 11:09, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    I've tried something else, but either way I don't think it's a showstopper. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:18, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
