The Rambling Man, I will begin a comprehensive review of this article within the next 48 hours. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments for me in the meantime. Thanks for all your hard work on this series of articles. -- Caponer (talk) 13:55, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lede

  • A version of the following content should be included in the lede of the article, so that more of the Background section can make the lede more comprehensive: "Cambridge went into the race as reigning champions, having won the 1900 race by twenty lengths, while Oxford led overall with 32 victories to Cambridge's 24."
I've added a note regarding the previous year's winning margin, but avoided the overall score as that is already noted in the lead post-race. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:29, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Content from the Crews section needs to be represented in the lede, for the reason listed above, in order for it to be a more comprehensive summary of the article's subject matter. Perhaps the fact that the Cambridge crew contained a single rower with Boat Race experience, while Oxford's crew saw five former Blues return.
Added something along those lines. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:29, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Background

  • In the second paragraph of the Background section, is the first sentence sourced in Burnell reference?
Yes, ref repeated for avoidance of doubt. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:29, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • In the third paragraph, does Warre in the first sentence reference Felix Warre? If so, his full name should be written and wiki-linked in this instance.
Yes, done as you suggested. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:29, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also in the third paragraph, does Newcastle refer to Newcastle upon Tyne? Also, this should probably be wiki-linked as it's not as obvious as say London or Manchester to those of us outside of the UK.
Yes, done. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:29, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • The Willan image is free, and therefore, acceptable for usage for a Good Article, however, I would suggest using one of the caricatures for Gold or Muttlebury, as they would be more aesthetically pleasing than the grainy Willan image.
Yes, I agree, done. Willian out, Gold in. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:29, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Crews

  • The table is sourced and formatted appropriately for a Good Article.
Woot! The Rambling Man (talk) 14:29, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Race

  • Are the third and fourth sentences of this section sourced from the Drinkwater reference?
Yep, consolidated into a single ref at the end of the para. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:29, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • The Championship Course image is free and therefore acceptable for use in a Good Article.
Hurrah! The Rambling Man (talk) 14:29, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
