Layout of the Pride of Chanur[edit]

Does Cherryh ever lay out the Pride that plainly? It didn't sink in like that when I read the books. (refering to this section, not the book. Bo-Lingua 16:08, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, Bo-Lingua, I didn't see that level of detail in the books either. The whole "Technology" section (including this description) was added by 217.132.89.89 on 19 January 2004. It's a good section and sounds absolutely correct, but if it isn't in the books or is not published elsewhere, should we call it original research? Perhaps the anonymous editor was CJC herself giving us background to the stories! --Bruce1ee 08:57, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I seem to remember just about every single detail mentioned here as some kind of remark made somewhere in the Chanur books, so I'd call it a compilation, not original research.... but it is a very good one. Cross-referencing it with the books would be a big tasks, though! --Alvestrand 10:54, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CherryhChanursEndgamePBCover.jpg[edit]

Image:CherryhChanursEndgamePBCover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I've amended the fair use rationale for this image using {{Non-free media rationale}}. --Bruce1ee 06:04, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mahendo'sat "Momentum"[edit]

The section on Chanur's Legacy says

A mahen faction, driven by the Momentum, a mystical force...

That implies that the Momentum is an actual force, like "the Force" in the Star Wars series. But while it is a reality in mahendo'sat society and psychology, we have no evidence that there is an actual force. We only know that mahendo'sat believe that this faction has the Momentum, and that this belief, true to its name, tends to attract further mahendo'sat support to the faction. Changing the article accordingly. --Thnidu (talk) 22:53, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mahendo'sat limbs[edit]

The section on the mahendo'sat states that they are six-limbed. I have just concluded re-reading the series; I do not recall any such reference, nor does Ms. Cherryh say that this is true in her appended discussion of the species at the end of Chanur's Venture. Does anyone have a passage in the novels that details this fact?

Incidentally, there is a VERY large amount of original research in this article. 71.75.199.66 (talk) 01:51, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User:WBardwin added the "six-limbed" fact last week here. I don't know where the information was sourced from, but you could ask on the user's talk page. The user made a number of edits to this article that day and they all look reasonable to me. --Bruce1eetalk 07:02, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done. We'll see what he/she says.  :) Doug (talk) 00:55, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
