Clips from the different versions[edit]

Would it be possible to have clips of each version, to appreciate the difference? This would require the help of somebody with access to all of the different recordings. Split list of covers into its own separate list[edit]

The list of covers is getting very long. Any opposition to splitting it to a separate list titled List of The Christmas Song covers or some such title? -- œ ^™ 17:15, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up. The covers section was split into a separate list article. Following a discussion, there was consensus to trim the list and keep it in the main article instead of having a separate article for it. 1944 or 1945?[edit]

Christina Aguilera version[edit]

A user had brought to my attention that maybe Christina Aguilera version's should not have an Infobox on this page. What are others thoughts about removing the Infobox. I do think that even if the Infobox is removed, we need to at least keep her version listed in the article as a cover version. Housewatcher (talk) 15:40, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think the Infobox can stay because the version did rate high. I added references to the article so the material cannot be deleted for being unsourced. LongLiveMusic (talk) 05:04, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Early Bing Crosby Version?[edit]

I've got a recording of Bing Crosby "introducing" this song, leaving the impression that the song had just been written. In a live performance during the "Philco Radio Time" show, Crosby introduces the song with the following words:

"A couple of uh--teenaged tune smiths around hollywood here, Mel Torme and Bob Wells have--have penned an item which I consider quite appropriate for tonight. It's sort of a musical Christmas card. Skitch and I would like to do it for you. It's called the Christmas Song."

The Philco show ran between October 16, 1946 and June 1, 1949, and as far as I can tell, these were the only recorded live performances he did with Skitch Henderson, which would make this recording one of the earliest, but it is not mentioned in the article.

In fact, I've just confirmed that the recording was made on December 25, 1946, mastered for V-Disc 796-B Matrix JB-337-D6TC-6657. Worth a mention in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.79.246.91 (talk) 03:18, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What are the chords?[edit]

The page linked to by reference 62 has been removed by the owners of the site. I have checked to see if there is an Internet Archive copy that works, but unfortunately the content being referenced appears to have been generated using JavaScript and did not get archived in a useful way.
