Untitled[edit]

The page starts out with saying that the band are Alternative Rock, but the summary at the side says Rock, Emo. I would fix this myself, but I find both Emo and Alternative to be vague descriptions (Emo seems to change every 6 months and I've always found alt rock too vague) --`GP 21:38, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It used to be emo as well in the lead section, before User:Jubella changed it (for whatever reason). They are clearly rather an emo band (like Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Jimmy Eat World) as an alt rock band (like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, The Smiths). Music professionals as AMG, Kerrang!, etc. classify them as emo, so I'll change it. --HarryCane 22:45, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Issue of non-notability[edit]

From Wikipedia:Notability (music):

Musicians and ensembles[edit]

There are a lot of bands, singers and other musicians and musical ensembles with articles in the Wikipedia (see Category:Musicians).

A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, hip hop crew, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) is notable if it meets any one of the following criteria:

  • Has had a charted hit on any national music chart, in at least one large or medium-sized country.[1]
  • Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one large or medium-sized country.
  • Has gone on an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one large or medium-sized country,[1] reported in notable and verifiable sources.
  • Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable).
  • Has been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media (excludes things like school newspapers, personal blogs, etc...).
  • Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable; note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such.
  • Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or the local scene of a city (or both, as in British hip hop); note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability.
  • Has won a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno or Mercury Music Award.
  • Has won or placed in a major music competition.
  • Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that page.)
  • Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network.
  • Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast on a national radio network.

This group does not appear to qualify, but more information may be needed. Please provide any qualifying information which could prevent this article from being deleted. - CobaltBlueTony 17:06, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They've had multiple chart positions on the Billboard Charts. --`GP 21:07, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Early November has appeared on The Vans Warped Tour on 2002 (see WP article) and 2004. http://music.ign.com/articles/695/695119p1.html —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.80.175.25 (talkcontribs) .
Notability criterias 1, 3, 4, 5, 11 and possibly also 12 all apply to the band. I'm cleaning up the article right now and removing the prod-tag. --HarryCane 13:42, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  1. ^ a b There are, at present, no precise definitions of a "small", "medium" or "large" country in this context. However, a very limited definition of "small" will generally be used, excluding only a few of the world's smallest countries.

Band Member's information in the main band section[edit]

Someone suggested that we put the information about each band member on the early november page. I think that they should each have their own page. As they grow and progress in their music career, not everything that they do will be related to the early november. For instance, Ace has done a side project and plans to do more side projects. These are not directly related to the early november, so they probably should be put in their own category. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Angstd (talkcontribs) 12:42, July 31, 2006

Notability[edit]

Thank you to the contributors who researched and found the criteria for notability. This was so much better than some talentless band plugging themselves on Wikpedia when they've never played for more than a dumpster full of drunks in a crack alley. Thanks again! - CobaltBlueTony 14:10, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability Met[edit]

Now that the Notability has been met, can we but back links to the individual band members? If not, what are the requirements for putting a band member up?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Angstd (talkcontribs) .

Why would we if there's no information besides "XXX is the singer/guitarist/bassist/drummer for The Early November." to put in the articles? Because that was in them before they were made redirects. Ace already has a seperate page for I Can Make a Mess, do we really need another page on each member? --HarryCane 12:13, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Band Picture[edit]

Can someone please change that hurrendous band picture up right now (3rd March 07)? I've seen better photography from a 2 year old using a broken camera!

Edit... I'm just gonna change it now. Tommyhaych 16:21, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Changed. I feel that using such a blurry distant image of the band in concert is just a pointless thing to do. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tommyhaych (talkcontribs) 16:27, 3 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]
The problem is that, given that the picture you uploaded is what is on Wikipedia considered "replaceable fair use" and on top of that tagged incorrectly, it will most likely be deleted within a week. --HarryCane 19:19, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Early November breaking up.[edit]

I do not know how to reference my addition that they are breaking up, so if someone knows how to do that, that would be great. It was posted at www.theearlynovember.net and more specifically http://theearlynovember.net/index_main.php?area=news—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Angstd (talkcontribs).

Ace redirects to his old band?[edit]

Ace Enders needs his own page, and should not redirect to Early November. He has side projects (I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business) and a record label (Regular Music), certainly enough to garner his own entry. Jeff Krummer also could use his own entry. He is in a new band called Grace Period, and actually has a pretty cool story. Jeff's would probably be a stub.

I thought I heard somewhere that the name of this band was changed.[edit]

I'm going to do some research but has anyone else heard this? Superstarwarsfan (talk) 22:33, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
