Poster[edit]

It is more or less confirmed that Batista is returing for the Great American Bash. And there was a poster of him up there a few days ago, so I say keep it. Cause a LOT of poster's get shown month or 2 ahead of time. Can't be torrie agian cause she's on RAW. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chris2038win (talkcontribs) 18:31, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Plus, a commercial advertising Batista vs. Mark Henry at the GAB was leaked earlier this week, effectively confirming the match. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.84.17.140 (talk) 05:53, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Batista vs Mark Henry[edit]

There is video showcasing this match on WWE.com. So do you think it's official since it's coming from the company itself and add it? Perry 23:26, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Matches change all the time. They were advertising Edge vs. Cena for the WWE Championship recently(including for RAW this Monday) but that obviously won't happen. Matches aren't official before they are announced and can always be changed. TJ Spyke 01:28, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This match can be confirmed, i was watching RAW and i saw a comercial for this match at the Great American Bash.

Hmm my friend just called and is pretty pissed that his additionis are called nonsense. Both he and i saw a commercial for this match while watching an edition of WWE RAW. Doesnt that count for anything?User:Killswitch Engage

See the thing is that while you saw it, the rest of the country didn't. WWE deliberately releases its commercials and promos on future events, spoiling the outcomes of matches and whatnot, to the local media. This is stupidly done to attract the interest of fans in that local area. The same thing happened with the Vengeance DX promo. That promo spoiled the return of the DX at Vengeance as it was released roughly 2 months before Vengeance. Another thing is Wikipedia Policy which forbids the addition of spoilers as Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. So please do not post spoilers until they are officially announced on either Raw, SmackDown!, and ECW or WWE.com. Thank you. 3bulletproof16 17:32, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.wwe.com/shows/smackdown/articles/2772688/animalsources Here's what seems to be confirmation of the Batista VS Henry match at the Bash. Night Bringer 00:56, 7 July 2006 (GMT +10)

People Keep putting up that Batista will be versing Mr. Kennedy but WWE.com say it is still an open challenge. Could someone tell why it is put as that. Bladeboy222 12:45 p.m.(GMT +1)

Smackdown! is usually taped on Tuesdays, so that announcement probably has been made in reality, just not on TV or on WWE.com. We at Wikipedia should maintain kayfabe and leave it as 'Open Challenge' until it is verified on Friday Night to the general public. -MFischer531

Thank you for helping me out on that. Bladeboy222 3:37 p.m.(GMT +1)

Punjabi Prison[edit]

What do you think this match will be? I think it will be some kind of Cage match.--Yugioh73036 04:38, 1 July 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036[reply]

I'm removing mention of this match until it is completely verified. If I can't put Batista vs Henry, then this match can't be posted.User:Killswitch Engage

We put the Jerry Lawler vs. Tazz ECW One Night Stand match before Lawler accepted, and the same at Vengeance for Orton and Angle. How is this different?--Yugioh73036 02:05, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036[reply]

Don't know about you, but I can't think of a time when a match has been proposed and not accepted, especially by a face wrestler (bar Austin/Hogan, which is still in the air about being at wrestlemania 23). Face it -it's gonna happen. I would put my car, house and first born child on it. Kingfisherswift 16:24, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I can't put Batista vs. Henry and iv'e seen the commercial for the match twice now, including Friday when i watched the commercials, and this match is not technically schedualed, it is only a challenge. I think we should just leave it at Khali has challenged the Undertaker. And for all we know, Taker cold decline the challenge and change the challenge to a match fitting him like Foley did to Edge for WM 22.

That is possible. Still, Batista vs. Henry is not on WWE.com and I, in OK, have not seen a commercial for it. As far as ads go, the Vengeance poster with Cena and Edge didn't happen, so this might not either. Ads for live events change as well, so this is definitely not confirmed.--Yugioh73036 23:44, 3 July 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036[reply]
See my comment above on Batista vs Mark Henry...--3bulletproof16 23:45, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Punjabi Prison match is a bamboo cage match as shown on Smackdown. Recent news says that Khali has a buggered liver and will not be competing, Big Show has been said to take his place but nothing official. I read this at http://wmf.wm-revolution.com/viewtopic.php?t=1609 which sources from WrestlingObserver.com. 22:36, 22nd July (GMT +10)
Khali is fine. Lashley's similar condition has been reported on WWE.com. Khali's hasn't. Go figure.Koberulz 15:56, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
People are going to have to stop changing it until it is reported on WWE.com, Smackdown, Raw, or ECW because it is getting annoying. Blade boy222 18:08, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Khali's condition has been confirmed by reliable sites like wrestlingobserver.com and pwinsider.com. However, it's not official unless wwe.com reports it so people should stop replacing him with the Big Show in the match. Also, we don't know for sure what the Punjabi Prison Match is(or if they will even do it now) and that is why the article was deleted and people should stop re-linking to it. TJ Spyke 19:19, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's bullshit like this (waiting on WWE.COM's "official word, therefore screwing the paying customer out of advanced warning this close to PPV time) that makes Wikipedia the joke it is in my opinion.

Then get off of Wikipedia if you think it is a joke. And don't edit it either.--Yugioh73036 20:43, 22 July 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036[reply]

Don't presume to tell me to "get off Wikipedia" punk, I still contriubte accurate information in many more areas. Forgive me if I feel as if the viewing public deserve to know ahead of schedule what they will and won't see. I knew Jokeapedia loves to think Internet dirtsheets are'nt "reliable" to protect kafabe, which the WWE are no longer dedicating themselves too on WWE.COM, but most of the time it's reliable information, displayed even by the recent illnsess affecting Lashley and we had a nunch of idiots thinking Ken Kennedy was'nt accepting the open challenge

Back to your regulary scheduled "let's screw the freaking customers" version of this article folks...though I personally hope it does'nt remain that way for long.

Its cool, as long as it's legit and comes form an official source (Raw, SD!, ECW, WWE.com etc.) Just remember that Wikipedia is absolutely no place for fan rumors, gossip, spoilers, and other nonsense. The article can be Semi-Protected by an admin. Semi-Protection keeps any IP Address and newly registered Users from editing the page. But it's useless now since SmackDown! airs tomorrow.--3bulletproof16 23:39, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

United States Championship[edit]

On Smackdown (to be aired 7/7/06), Theodore Long will announce a triple threat match for the great american bash and it will be bobby lashley defending the u.s title against william regal and finlay.

That is a spoiler. We do not post spoilers. Marks might wonder how people know this and assume you work for WWE or something. If he is going to do it, wait until he says it on Friday.--Yugioh73036 15:11, 6 July 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036[reply]

That isn't a spoiler, you fool, it clearly tells you the match, Bobby Lashley is defending his title in a triple threat against Finlay and William Regal for the United states championship. 'Defending' means it hasn't happened yet. Read the comment before you write anything.

I know it means it hasn't happened yet, but it also wasn't announced yet. That's what I meant by a spoiler.--Yugioh73036 05:09, 13 July 2006 (UTC)Yugioh73036[reply]
Why don't you guys just use spoiler warnings, if the information is reliably sourced? That's what they're for. Mak (talk) 23:19, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia section[edit]

Reverted the trivia section again. Trivia sections are really bad form for a number of reasons. If it's significant, mention it naturally as prose in the article. See Wikipedia:Trivia for an essay about this. --Jtalledo (talk) 18:53, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's not really trivia, it's more like notes from the show. Maybe we should follow the suggestion from WP:Trivia and call it something like "Miscellanea". Just putting all that info in the results section makes it look more messy. TJ Spyke 20:53, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia, notes, miscellaneous, they're different words describing the same kind of section. Lists get really out of hand. The info is best left in the context of the other sections. --Jtalledo (talk) 18:07, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong link[edit]

In the second Great American Bash, in the first match there is a link to the Steve Regal name and it's linked to Darren Matthews more commonly known as Lord Steven Regal or William Regal in WWE. But that is wrong as he didn't show up in the states until 1992. So it should be linked to the correct Steve Regal. This one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Regal

Does anyone know of the confirmed venue for the Great American Bash in 2007? Gerweck.net says it is in Washington D.C but this site says Hershey Pennsylvania.Jayorz12 19:50, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen a few site "reporting" that WWE announced DC as the venue, but neither the main WWE site nor the WWE's corporate website say anything about it. I have no problem with it being change IF there is proof that WWE announces it, which I have not seen any proof of. TJ Spyke 19:54, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cross Brand in 2007[edit]

On a wrestling site I was on they showed the p.p.v. poster that included John Cena, King Booker, and Batista. I was trying to figure out why Cena was on it because he's a Raw star, at the bottom of the poster, it had the logos of all three wrestling brands,Raw , SD!, and ECW. must the info I have givin be true in order to be put on TGAB article? I believe that this article should be merged with the article WWE The Great American Bash. The reason I think this should be done is because this is a continuation of that event. Even WWE acknowledges that this is a direct continuation and as they now own the rights to not only the events that they are currently promoting, but also the classic NWA/WCW versions as well there is no reason to assume that this is a new event started in 2004, it simply is not. It is comparable in some ways to the ECW Championship. That was a title started in another company, but when WWE revived ECW, the title was brought in and is fully recognised on Wikipedia as the same title with the same lineage (other examples are the U.S and Cruiserweight titles from WCW). The question has to be asked as to why people consider this not to be the same event. --Bravo Plantation (talk) 09:57, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For now, all we can do is rely on TV announcements. They didn't announce any matches at the ECW/SD tapings though, so we don't have to worry for at least a few more days. TJ Spyke 00:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thee announced on smackdown it will be Edge and Kanefor the World Heavyweight Championship and on raw which WAS ON WWE TELIVISION that it will bw a WWE Championship match John Cena vs Bobby Lashley.

The rules as set out by the wrestling wikiproject state that it has to be on US Televison so that would mean we would have to wait for Smackdown to air on Friday unless they are on the main website earlier. In short, the matches mentioned cannont be added now. --67.68.153.61 04:24, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rey Rey banned[edit]

Rey Mysterio was going to return on Smackdown! this week, but do to speculations of steroids, he was nixed from the show. I believe Rey was supposed to be Edge's "surpride Cutting Edge guest", and instead they substituded him with Kane. So probably, Kane will lose the title match at the bash Lex94 15:21, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(1) where's your source? (2) no speculation. --Dave. 15:52, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is confirmed by the Police Department that there is speculation that Rey has steroids. For Benoit's doctor gave unneeded steroids to someone in the WWE with initials O.G., and Rey is the only one. Thats why Vince had to ban him from the show. What you'd probably say is that we need wwe.com as a source, but they are not going to write in their own site, that already 2 of their superstars have steroid issues. I checked the news in several wrestling sites. The only one I remember is ProWrestlingScoops.com and PWInsider Lex94 15:58, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'd say you need the police confirmation as the source (or a report detailing it from a reputable independent source), as far as the "facts" are concerned about his receiving steroids. I don't think there's a verifiable source for Rey being cut from the show other than WWE itself (simply because it's only WWE that can say what they were planning to do in the first place). Certainly you can't claim that Kane will lose - that's pure speculation.--Dave. 16:32, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. It should also be noted at the last PPV Johnny Nitro won the ECW Cahmpionship match and was only announced as Benoit's replacement minuites before the match began. This means that Kane being a late replacement does not necesasarly mean that he will lose the match. --67.71.79.147 21:23, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How can Kane be a replacement for a match that hasn't even been announced? The only announced matches so far are the WWE and ECW Title matches. Also, it's alreay noted in the Vengeance article that Nitro was a replacement for Benoit. TJ Spyke 21:35, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I sould have been more clear. I should have said if Kane was replacing Mysterio to clearify that I was refering to the hypothetical senerio mentioned by Lex94. I also wanted Nitro's noted as a counter to the claim made bt Lex94 that Kane would be likely to lose if he was a replacement for Mysterio and not becasue I didn't think it was mentioned in the Vengeance article. --67.68.154.204 05:52, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, thanks for clearing that up. TJ Spyke 06:41, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rey Mysterio will make a scheduled return on the June 9th, 2007th edition of RAW in a 6 man tag team match teaming with John Cena, and Bobby Lashley vs. King Booker, Randy Orton, and Umaga [1] The Great American Bash will feature Double Main Events: Bobby Lashley vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship and Rey Mysterio vs. Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship [2]. J.C. 06:28, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You do know that those are just rumors? I wouldn't put too much faith in what these "news" sites say (hell, i've never even heard of this site). To clarify, wrestlingattitude.com has a rumor that Mysterio will wrestle on RAW this Monday (sorry, but I hate when people post rumors and act like they are official or anything like that, it makes it so casual readers will think it's true). TJ Spyke 06:48, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Even if that is true, J.C. we can't add it until it's announced on WWE.com or on TV. Otherwise it's a spoiler. Gavyn Sykes 15:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's just a poll (and one that we can't tell if it's fixed or not). Not really notable in my opinion. Lrrr IV 01:07, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the above poster entirely. WWE.com tends to fix all of their polls, or it would seem so, there's no evidence. Gavyn Sykes 01:32, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

US Title Match Added[edit]

MVP defending the US Title against Matt Hardy has been added to the Great American Bash PPV. Credit: PWInsider.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.217.8.78 (talkcontribs)

Actually, credit goes to wwe.com since they announced the match. The match was added earlier today after WWE announced the match, please check the article first. Lrrr IV 02:03, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2007 GAB Theme Song[edit]

"Lost Highway" will NOT be the theme of the Great American Bash. It was announced as the theme, but things have changed. A replacement theme has not yet been made official. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.206.158.130 (talkcontribs)

source?--Dave. 15:59, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Theme Song is “Church of Hot Addiction” by Cobra Starship. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.206.158.130 (talkcontribs)

Source? As of now, Lost Highway IS the official theme song, as announced by WWE. Lrrr IV 06:48, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it's right, the theme song has changed. See it: http://www.wwe.com/shows/thegreatamericanbash/ Look at the bottom of the page, there it is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mateuspfc (talkcontribs)

Pre-Emp[edit]

Is their anyway we can put a pre-empt block on all of our PPV's so we can eliminate vandalism from IP's? -- Kings bibby win 19:02, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nope. People have tried it before, but blocks can be be used as a pre-emptive measure. Unfortunately the posters has to be vandalized before it can be protected. Lrrr IV 04:59, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If we get a Admin, than can we do it? -- Kings bibby win 05:30, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Only if the Admin was willing to violate Wikipedia policy. Gavyn Sykes 14:27, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Is their any "wrestling friendly" admin thats willing to do that? TJSpyke is not an administrator, but if he was, maybe he can? -- Kings bibby win 22:31, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure there are a few out there. Spyke was recently temp banned again though, so any hope of him becoming an admin soon is wishful thinking. Gavyn Sykes 22:33, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeh, he had mentioned that to me. -- Kings bibby win 20:08, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rey?[edit]

Does anyone know if Rey Mysterio is still going to be wrestling at the Bash? Because if he isn't, wouldn't the poster have to be changed? The thing that would make sense is Rey VS Chavo for Cruiserweight, but it seems odd that no match has been announced even though they're hyping his return. Mjtwh 20:34, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The poster is just for that, promotional purposes. Rey is expected to return to action soon though. Kane was on the Judgment Day 2007 poster, but only appeared in a dark match. Chuck Quizmo 01:06, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I speculate that Rey will compete at the GAB, as the Cruiserweight open match has been announced. Even though the announced competetors are Funaki, Jamie Noble, Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore, it is a Cruiserweight OPEN. So I'm guessing he'll compete in that match (and probably win, or lose to Chavo in the very end after Chavo cheats.) But that's my opinion. Talon Kelson 02:38, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly agree because that's what Chavo did at No Way Out, and that would be sweet payback Mjtwh 15:48, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IC Title match[edit]

It was just announced that Umaga will defend the title at the GAB. Can someone add "Umaga vs. TBD"? He will face the winner of a Four-Way match on RAW that is happening now. Chuck Quizmo 01:20, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Umaga is facing Jeff Hardy at the Great American Bash.

Umaga beat Jeff after a samoan spike. 76.110.82.251 01:21, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WHC match[edit]

Should we mention that Edge was scheduled to compete against Kane for the World Heavyweight Championship? I mean, seeing as it was already scheduled (i.e. officially noted on the WWE.com's GAB page), and seeing as we noted that Nitro replaced Benoit at Vengeance, it seems appropriate. Thoughts? A-Thousand-Lies 02:22, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about all that because Morrison was a last minute change, and this isn't since they had time to announce it. 05:44, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't think it should be mentioned. The Edge/Kane match has been totally scrapped and not just changed, Khali will face either Kane or Batista. Chuck Quizmo 20:37, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

World Title Match[edit]

Should it be moved to the bottom of the list. Seeing as the matches are going in order, this match was technically the last announced as it isn't the original match seeing as Edge dropped the belt. Granted it's for the same belt. What you think?

Agreed, this is a different match since they are even having a #1 contenders match this week. Also, it should say "The Great Khali vs. TBD", rather than listing both possible opponents. I can't do it myself because it says I can't edit the page yet. Chuck Quizmo 20:37, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

in the smackdown tuesday tapings batista and kane fought to a no contest in a number one contender's match when khali interfered and attacked both men, insteand teddy long announces a triple theart match for the whc pitting jhali vs kane vs batista. so, should be added now or had to wait until the friday smackdown shows.

Friday. Cheers, The Hybrid 13:44, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article states both Batista and Khali are (c) in the 2007 area. It should be edited.--76.104.252.229 19:55, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It will be The Great Kahli (c) v. Batista v. Kane.76.110.82.251 15:16, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Split?[edit]

This article is getting quite large. Should we split it up into 3 articles, one for each company? 18 PPV's on one page is a lot. DrWarpMind 00:32, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I agree. Either split it to 3 articles or make a separate page for each GAB and at the bottom ad the links to pages from other GAB ppv. - J@ro_Link 1:18, July 23 2007 (UTC)

2006 Bash: Super Crazy vs. Psicosis[edit]

The match at The Great American Bash 2006 was originally supposed to be Super Crazy vs. Psicosis, not Crazy challenging Helms. Trust me, I have the official shirt from the event, and it reads Crazy vs. Psicosis NOT Helms vs. Crazy. Even if the rumors of Helms vs. Crazy are true, you should definitely include something about plans for Crazy vs. Psicosis. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.214.183.197 (talk) 06:19, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was wwe.com itself that originally announced "Super Crazy vs. Gregory Helms", so it wasn't just a rumor. TJ Spyke 00:20, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2006 Bash cursed?[edit]

Isn't kind of weird that Super Crazy, Bobby Lashley, and The Great Kahli were suppose to wrestle but all had liver problems? Not to mention Matt Hardy who was suppose to wrestle but was injured.76.110.82.251 15:32, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Page merge[edit]

Judging by the above conversation, the reason for the current WWE The Great American Bash is because this article had become too large so it was split off. Since that time myself and others have expanded all the pay-per-view events and broken them out onto their own pages. The rationale for the original split really doesn't apply anymore. This page currently only houses 3 years of events (1 closed circuit and 2 tours), as opposed to 18 (14 here, 4 were split out) years like it did previously. As it is right now there is a lot of duplicated information between the two. I think it would make things easier for the reader and less confusing of they were re-merged now. We even already have all the WWE events listed here, so outside of the 2012 SmackDown episode there is not much that isn't duplicated. Thoughts? - GalatzTalk 20:07, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It is TOTALLY RIDICULOUS to call Rick & Missy vs Arn & Paul E the "main event" of Bash '91 just because it was last match on[edit]

That bout was a piece of light relief at the end to send the fans home happy after they had seen Lex turn heel in the process of winning the World title. Dusty vs Tully as the main event of Bash '85 I can just about live with, but saying that a slapstick involving Missy and Paul E was the main event of Bash '91 is just insulting. I know it's fashionable to diss Lex's World title run to show support for how Flair was treated by Herd, but saying that it was a support feature to Missy and Paul E is extracting the urine.165.225.81.100 (talk) 08:46, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Everything you just mentioned is plain and simple WP:OR and WP:POV. The final match is considered the main event across the board on wikipedia. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 18:18, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
