Recent Additions[edit]

A new user called browneheather (talk · contribs) has recently added a great deal of content of unknown origin. It appears to be copy/pasted from a request for creation attempt where it appeared very quickly (not much construction which suggests it was copy/pasted from somewhere else). The first thing I noticed is that the photo added is a copyright violation from an article published by fuelfriendsblog.com in an article written by Heather Browne. While this isn't a standard conflict of interest, between the fact that the editor is new, is a reporter who has covered the band extensively, and is adding copyrighted material to the article, I have reverted the edits. It looks like there some good content with plenty of refs but until I (or anyone else) have time to check it, I think it's better left in the history of the article. I'm heading out right now but I'll be attempting to add as much of the content that I can that doesn't pose any problems for Wikipedia (i.e. COI or copyvios). The content was copy-pasted from Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/The Head and The Heart, hence why it came in such a large chunk. You and browneheather somehow created an article on the same subject at almost the exact same time. Upon noticing that an article on this band already existed, I directed her to merge the two, which she did. When you said that there was copyvio regarding the text, I checked by Googling sentences and by using the Duplication Detector between her revision and the sources she used. From what I saw, there doesn't seem to be copyright violation in the text. The user confirms that all of the material is her own work. I will soon go through it to carefully check, but I think the new information is good. GorillaWarfare talkcontribs 20:05, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I never said there was a copyvio with the text but within the additions (see: the photo). As far as the photo goes, I'm sure it's Heather Browne's (I didn't want to assume that they're the same person or be accused of outing). Also, the place where it was published notes that all works still belong to their creators (who we now know to be the user who submitted it). I'm sure your checks of the text are more than sufficient. I was weary of how I'd find much information to add because there doesn't seem to be much on their websites but having Heather Browne will be a great asset. Thanks to both of you. Really leaving this time. Girlfriend is going to kill me. OlYellerTalktome 20:16, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've added back all of the information after checking the sources, and will continue to improve it. I've removed the photograph until that whole deal is sorted out -- I was unaware that it was duplicated on another website. I'll speak with her about releasing copyright, etc. GorillaWarfare talkcontribs 20:25, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to both of you for all the attention here to getting this right. This is my first wiki, and GorillaWarfare is correct that I wrote it all last night in userspace, and then cut and pasted it this morning after you created the official page. I also uploaded a new picture just now that has not appeared elsewhere. I hope it all looks okay now! Browneheather (talk) 21:15, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Revision[edit]

This page was revised with a shorter synopsis at the top, the history divided into sections and duplications removed that was the consequence of merging the two articles as outlined above. One paragraph was moved to the album description and a separate 'Television' heading was created. Karst (talk) 11:47, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Josiah Johnson[edit]

Isn't it about time that the bio be updated to reflect Josiah Johnson is no longer a member of the band? I recall reading an interview a year or two ago saying that the band made the hard decision to let him go, and as he's recently signed a solo deal with Anti Records, he's being referred to in its press releases as "former member."
