Malformed sentence?[edit]

The natural reaction of the workers [...] was underemphasis of class consciousness and radicalism? Surely this should read something like, "The book suggests that class consciousness and radicalism was the natural reaction of the workers [...]", and then in a separate clause say that this has been traditionally undermphasised.
