Proposed Deletion[edit]

This film has been in production starting during January of 2009. Therefore, can not be proposed for deletion for not in production, because it is in production. Hda3ku (talk) 20:22, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Production already began. Filming takes place in January. Lhw1 (talk) 03:17, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Do we have any reliable sources that say it has started? Because a film plans to start in a particular month does not mean it will happen. This happened for Shantaram (film). —Erik (talkcontrib) 23:56, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Several websites say the filming will begin in January. Hda3ku (talk) 03:43, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Did they say this very recently? WP:NFF says, Films that have not been confirmed by reliable sources to have commenced principal photography should not have their own articles. I recommend userfying the article and moving it back to the mainspace when it is verified that filming began. I'm doing this for The Book of Eli -- see User:Erik/The Book of Eli. —Erik (talkcontrib) 04:09, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea Will userfy it incase it is deleted. Hda3ku (talk) 15:38, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They are having a casting call for extras in Guthrie oklahoma on march 6th 2009. So i'm assuming it's in production. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.12.33.44 (talk) 04:46, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is in progress, as i know one of the people staring in it, and they confirm that its being filmed currently. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hummer bmw1 (talkcontribs) 05:16, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Earlier Film[edit]

I thought it was strange that there was a huge paragraph devoted to how many attempts there had been to film this before, that did not mention that there actually had been an earlier film adaptation. This implied that all efforts to film this book had failed, which was obviously not true. Pearce.duncan (talk) 22:16, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup and Re-Write Needed[edit]

This article is chock full of issues with POV and weasel words. There is barely any discussion of anything other than the controversy surrounding the violence in the film. I notice that there is a mention with citation that Jessica Alba left the film early during the premier, but there is no mention of later interviews where she said she had no issues with the film and only left early because she had a sick family member waiting on her at home. I find it similarly interesting that the harshest criticism published is selected in, but there is no mention of critics who put this on their best of the year list like Jim Emerson. I certainly think the issues with violence are noteworthy and should be discussed, but there has to be balance. 69.132.63.121 (talk) 02:18, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Along the same lines, the statement early in the article, 'The violence has colored most critical reviews of the film since its release' is not attributed to any source,so it appears to represent one editor's opinion of the reviews it has received. Whether this is reflective of the actual situation or not, it is original research which I am removing as soon as I save this comment. Bustter (talk) 18:46, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've also removed a reference to Blockbuster exclusivity; since it is now avail as a Netflix stream, this is not relevant or entirely accurate. Bustter (talk) 19:14, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Film Noir???[edit]

There are several mentions in the article of this being a film noir but this is not strictly true. Simply because a crime movie is set in the early 1950s does not make it noir. It is in color so the black and white lighting is not noir. The killer is a sociopath, not some ordinary guy who got into a fix way over his head. There is no femme fatal. The graphic violence leaves nothing to the imagination such as is characteristic of noir. It just ain't a film noir.

Hallucinations and fantasies? No![edit]

While he is there he suffers hallucinations of a photographic slideshow featuring Amy and Helene on his bedroom wall.

Lou, now lost entirely in his own violent fantasies, douses his home in gasoline and alcohol, dresses himself smartly for his own demise and armed with a knife sits waiting in his study for a real or an imagined retribution to arrive. Reality and fantasy blur as police vehicles and armed policemen are seen converging on the house, but looking out of the window Lou sees a car pull up with Hendricks, Conway, Plummer and the resurrected Joyce, scarred but seemingly alive. Joyce tells Lou that she refused to cooperate with the authorities, Lou tells her he loves her and then stabs her. Plummer opens fire, hitting both Joyce and Lou and igniting the gasoline in the house. Outside, the approaching policemen see the house explode in a huge fireball which, if Lou has imagined the previous encounter, he has ignited to kill himself.

I did not have the impression that he suffered hallucinations or was lost in his fantasies at any time. According to me, the slides were real and so was Joyce who had never died (before he stabbed her in the end) and she was the ace in the sleeve that the bunch of town people had against him. 80.141.0.169 (talk) 19:02, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
