Questions[edit]

I'm not sure if this is a criticism about the movie or just a general question... but, as it was a movie from a major studio (20th Century Fox), with a budget exceeding $10 million (budget was $34 mil according to IMDb), and it saw a full national release ("In Theaters Everywhere" vs. "In Select Cities", as you might see with smaller indie films) as well as an international theatrical release in about 90 other countries, many would consider this to be a "Major Motion Picture" where "major" denotes the scale of it's production and release. hope that helps clarify. --Mrdeadhead (talk) 23:50, 4 January 2015 (UTC).[reply]

Reliability of Character Descriptions?[edit]

I was reading through the character descriptions and there's multiple allusions to the boys having homosexual relationships (particularly Newt and Alby being boyfriends, and something about Minho and Thomas being "more than friends"). I only saw the movie, and while there might be serious undertones, there was nothing that would actually suggest these claims are true. I was wondering if anyone who's read the books might be able to verify these as plot points, or debunk the author who might have added in their own sort of fan-fiction elements, so the article can remain factually correct. --Mrdeadhead (talk) 00:06, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Chuck's death[edit]

I just read the Italian translation of the book and I was surprised by reading about Chuck's death in this article. In the Italian book Gally attacks Thomas with a knife, eventually killing Chuck. Instead this summary uses the words "shoot" and "bullet" implying that Gally's weapon is a gun. Is this because Italian translations is not strict or maybe the book went under more editions, or something else? Maxpagani (talk) 06:31, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Intended Edits for Article[edit]

I am planning on making some changes to the article in the coming weeks. First, I plan on adding a “Genre” section and an “Analysis” section to complement the existing sections and meet Wikipedia’s guidelines for articles on books. The "Genre" section will include the relevance of dystopian literature and the role of The Glade, The Maze, and The Flare in the fictional world. The "Analysis" section will include relevant themes, such as chaos, trauma, government order, and community. I also intend on shortening the “Plot” section to better fit Wikipedia’s plot suggestions and make it more of a summary of main points in the book. I will also update the “Receptions” section to add more perspectives and more recent reviews, as well as the role of the novel for teaching adolescents in school settings. Finally, I will update the lead to include each body section, emphasize the notability of the article, and expand it to reflect the new content I add accordingly. I also intend to fix the broken citations, such as the MTV article, Deseret Morning News article, and Empire article by receiving archived versions or by modifying the sections to substitute new, active articles in their place.
