Infobox[edit]

Difficult to determine whether this is a COMICS release or simply a book release, and thus (among other things) whether to use the Comics infobox or not. Seemed sensible to use it, despite this being more accurately described as a "book" than "OGN"/comic, so as to include the artists fields and better align it both to the Moores and Top Shelf. ntnon (talk) 18:23, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is this: {{infobox future comics}} (as seen on Marvel Apes). On the definition front - it is tricky. I suspect graphic novel is the best summary - it may be seen as an illustrated book but one with 100% comic creators puts it more firmly in comics. We can always update later anyway (nothing is set in stone) but if Black Dossier counts then so does this. (Emperor (talk) 19:01, 13 June 2008 (UTC))[reply]
That future-box might be better, but I don't think it has any great benefits or differences. As far as definitions go, I would tentatively agree (hence the page as is) that the comics involvement (although arguably Mr S Moore is only partly a comics individual, and Mr A may well be pushing towards bridging the gap like Mr Gaiman) outweighs the "book-ish"-ness (Top Shelf being a major factor), but it sounds like it will be, as you say, an illustrated text, which clearly sets it appart from the Dossier which was a comic with text sections. This sounds like it might be - at most - a text with comics sections, maybe closer to Umberto Eco's Mysterious Flame or the FT itself than the Dossier, Watchmen or From Hell which all contain text sections, but aren't in-and-of-themselves 'books'. Oh well...! That's all rather hair-splitting, and it should be fine as-is. :o) ntnon (talk) 02:41, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Move To Delete?[edit]

It's been 6 years now since this book was supposed to have been released. Shouldn't we at this point delete this article?BoyintheMachine (talk) 18:52, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it should be deleted. It could still be a work in progress. As well, it could be abandoned. Steve Moore has been dead for five years now. I've seen no news about this release, yet, from time to time, check to see if it has been released. At any rate, I don't think this article should be deleted. Maybe someone should contact Moore and inquire about the status of this project? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.52.235.214 (talk) 18:33, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jan 2018 Alan Moore said "When I’m finished with The League, my next project in terms of published work will be to handle and oversee the final visual details of The Moon & Serpent Bumper Book of Magic, although since these details are numerous I cannot announce any publication date as yet"222.110.175.110 (talk) 11:34, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed still going ahead Jan 2021 by publisher Chris Staros 86.9.198.92 (talk) 17:59, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Even if it became clear the book probably wouldn't exist, I'd not vote for deletion but maybe a rewrite ("a prospective book by Moore that was never published"). It's an interesting part of his ouvre, linking together his interests in magic and comics writing and some of the people he's linked to artistically; people would still have interest in the possible existence of this book; it feels relevant Ninquelosse (talk) 18:24, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
