Studio vs. Live re-creation[edit]

Despite the claim in the article, The Musical Box does not recreate the studio albums onstage; in fact, they perform the songs exactly as Genesis performed them live, including differences in the songs as Genesis performed them on different tours. For example:

"Supper's Ready": In concert, Genesis always took the last section of the song down a whole step in pitch from the LP to make it possible for Gabriel to sing it in concert without blowing out his voice. On the Foxtrot tour, they "faded out" the ending; on the SEBTP/Black Show tour, they gave it an actual conclusion. The Musical Box approaches the song exactly the same way, depending on what tour they are re-creating.

"The Musical Box": The only song besides "Watcher of the Skies" performed at every Gabriel-era Genesis concert, this had three distinct endings depending on the tour. On the Foxtrot tour, Gabriel sang the entire ending (from "I've been waiting here for so long" onward) as he did on the LP. On the SEBTP/Black Show tour, he put on an "old man" voice for the first part, and shouted the rest as on the LP. As an encore for The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway tour, he sang the entire ending in the "old man" voice. You have the chronology of "Supper's Ready" in concert reversed. Only the very earliest performances (beginning with its premiere on 10 November 1972) had a dramatic conclusion, as you can hear on bootlegs from that period (e.g., Imperial College 18 Nov 1972). But they changed to a fade-out during the Foxtrot tour itself; you can hear this on bootlegs of the Leicester-Manchester shows (24-25 February 1973), which were the source for the Genesis Live album. They continued to use the fade-out in all subsequent performances (the Selling England, Trick, Wind & Wuthering, and Abacab tours, as well as the Milton Keynes show in 1982, and even the 1986 tour when the last two sections were played. — Lawrence King ^(talk) 05:05, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Future tours[edit]

The section on future tours seems to be undergoing a minor edit war. 69.159.142.140 originally wrote it as follows:

After a break in 2010, The Musical Box will likely return in late 2011 to perform a Double Show Tour, consisting of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway and a new tour consisting of songs Genesis themselves have never performed live.

Then 74.15.201.15 changed it to this:

After a break in 2010, The Musical Box will likely return in late 2011 to perform The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.

And now 93.212.93.214 has changed it back to the earlier version.

All of these editors are unregistered and have never made any edits to any Wikipedia page other than this one. If this happened once I would guess it was a member of the band or a promoter, but the fact that these anonymous editors disagree with each other on the band's plans make that seem unlikely. The only source that has ever been provided for any of these claims is this site: [1] -- but this site which says nothing about any activity of the band in 2011. Instead, it refers to a Lamb show in January and February 2012 in Europe.

Can anyone provide any evidence for 2011 activity, or any citation of this "double show tour" at all? For the time being I have rephrased the paragraph to stress the lack of citations, but by Wikipedia policy it really should be deleted entirely because there are no relevant sources. — Lawrence King ^(talk) 01:21, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
