A little too stringent![edit]

Okay, don't get me wrong, I'm glad that The N is being watched more closely because people liked to add some bogus information. However, I think the mods are being a little too strict when it comes to citing things. For example, what sources are we supposed to cite concerning The N's penchant for editing their programs? That is something you observe by watching their network; its not something that can be attributed to an article. That's just my two cents! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.137.100.234 (talk) 22:41, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are a few articles about The-N delaying the broadcast of Degrassi's "Accidents Will Happen." Entertainment Weekly CBC
And another one about The-N editing Degrassi episodes - NYT Degrassi Editing
Wikipedia's Daria entry mentions The-N edited reruns of the show Daria Airing Information

List of past and present shows[edit]

Please do not delete the list of shows from this article. The information on which shows have aired on The-N in the past and at the present time is exactly the kind of information that should be on here and makes the article more than just a small blurb about a niche cable channel.

At the very least, will whoever keeps removing these lists please explain yourself? Is there some reason why you object to this list? Is there some kind of compromise that can be reached to make us all happy? Without any comments from you, this is all frustrating and inexplicable. --Patrick T. Dish Network will carry The N[edit]

Dish Network will carry The N when the split happens. They currently carry Nick GaS and The N will simply replace Nick GaS on 12/31/07. [1] This piece of the article proves my point

The N, which has targeted 14-to-17-year-olds with such original teen-targeted dramas as Degrassi: The Next Generation and Beyond the Break, will replace the 58 million-subscriber GAS games-and-sports oriented network on the cable dial, according to Denise Dahldorf, executive vice president for MTVN content distribution and marketing.

So for providers currently carrying Nick GaS will have The N. The major concern was for DirecTV which doesn't carry Nick GaS but will carry The N when it launches 24/7 ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 03:54, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added that in the article. GD1223 —Preceding comment was added at 12:15, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm... as some of you may know by now, for whatever reason Dish Network is still airing Nick GAS (the only service provider that is still currently carrying the channel). While the program schedule for channel 169 (Noggin, formerly Noggin/The N) changed to suggest that they were going through with the split, at roughly 6 pm EST today, the N began its usual feed on Noggin. However, channel 177 (Nick GAS, which was supposed to be replaced by the N) is still airing Nick GAS programming and the schedule reflects that. An update on this issue provides some very interesting information. EPX2 (talk) 01:06, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
according to the channelology (their Channel Finder) on the n's website, the N's home on Dish Network is still at 169 and not 177, i don't know why it's 169. maybe Noggin is moving to 177 instead.--Boutitbenza 69 9 (talk) 02:50, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, toady (2/1/08) SOMEONE on The Nick GAS page said the switch was supposed to happen yesterday, but, of course, its still on can anybody find the day? GD1223 (talk) 21:31, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nick Gas last broadcast will be on January 31, 2009 for Dish Network but they were fully aware. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.245.12.202 (talk) 12:44, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On the Dish Network version of The N, there is something horribly wrong with the programming! At 12:00a.m., it shows Degrassi all the way until 3:00a.m. when noggin comes on. If you go to The N's website, and check the schedule it says other shows such as All That and Catylin's Way should be on at that time. Someone please write some information on this! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.165.249.105 (talk) 01:30, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Show listing[edit]

First off, the list of shows aired by The N is on a separate page, secondly, the list that was here was not provided with source information. Just because you "heard" something does not make it encyclopedic. Please leave the list off of here, and only place it on the other page once a verifiable source can be cited for the information. --Mhking (talk) 16:28, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:The N current.png[edit]

Image:The N current.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Criticism[edit]

There has been much criticism of the network, as indicated on the channel's message boards. I've decided to added a "Criticism" section to the article (which is probably going to be deleted). If you think more information needs to go into that section, feel free to edit it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.68.79.44 (talk) 00:12, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think its a great idea. And yeah, some ass deleted it. N's mindless censorship of Daria would be a good topic for that section. You ought to re-add it. --24.21.148.155 (talk) 05:18, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Slogan[edit]

Since when has the slogan for the N been "More Teenick You Crave"? I don't remember it ever being that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.160.222.253 (talk) 23:20, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Same here. I don't remember it ever being "More Teenick You Crave". Maybe I'm missing something, but all I've ever heard slogan-wise on the channel is "TV for Teens", and nothing else. Crockhun (talk) 01:05, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dish Network switch![edit]

i just want to know if anyone here has any information on when The N will be 24/7 on Dish Network. I mean the switch happened in January and its August and nothing has happened. Im missing shows like All That and Kenan and Kel that come on when Noggin is still on and its very frustrating. Any info would be extremely helpful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.165.249.105 (talk) 18:56, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please folks! can someone please find some info on when The N will switch 24/7 on Dish Network. Im missing all the good shows like All That and Kenan and Kel

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE RESPOND TO THE ABOVE REQUESTS!!! I AM MISSING ALL THAT AND KENAN AND KEL!! THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

The N will switch 24/7 on Dish Network starting January 31, 2009. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.245.11.40 (talk) 22:05, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Screw this no one really likes Nick GAS so Dish should remove it and replace it with The N right now I think Viacom needs to get on to them Matthew Cantrell (talk) 16:42, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

shows[edit]

whats up with the shows on the front page, it clearly doesnt make any sense to me, and i am going to delete it. if anybody has a reason not to delete please tell me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.210.140.10 (talk) 22:25, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

i deleted the Degrassi-themed logo from the article because it was not actually used except for on commercials. Matrix8110 (talk) 21:34, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the logos again. They are unnecessary and do not add value. Look at the other pages for other networks and you will see that adding "coming up next" pictures of a channel's logo is not used. Please stop adding them. The Big Switch[edit]

Does anyone have a final answer if The N is splitting tonight on Dish Network? It's New Year's Eve so just wondering if we should finally add something about that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.210.149.172 (talk) 16:58, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing happen it is still the same. Noggin/The N & Nick Gas are still on Dish Network. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.245.14.86 (talk) 20:53, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

growing pains[edit]

my family and I was getting into watching growing pains and then this week(3-9-09) you took it off the air to put another show called dugrassi in its place and we would really like to see growing pains back on the air!!!!!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.58.253.213 (talk) 03:00, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia does not control the line up. Complain to Nick. Doubt they would listen though since Nick is all for killing the better, old shows for the newer, less interesting shows. Weaselboy246 (talk) 08:24, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The N/Noggin spliting on Dish Network Saga finally ends?[edit]

according to the uplink fourm on dbstalk.com and satelliteguys.us, two well known Satellite TV news fourm site, it looks like The N and Noggin (soon to be rename TeenNick and Nick Jr.) are finally goning to split on Dish Network, which finally ends the saga that started when The N and Noggin split into two 24/7 on cable and DirecTV, but Dish Network chosed not to split the two and kept it timeshared. right now the N is on 9576 but may end up on an differnt channel and or stay on 169, while Noggin gets ether the new channel number or 169.--Boutitbenza 69 9 (talk) 04:17, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possible 24/7 Date?[edit]

Anyone else think Nick GaS will die the day they switch Noggin and The N to Nick Jr. and TeenNick, Respectively? If they do, I wonder if they might keep nick gas, or take it off the air, but keep it, revamp it, and re-release it? My Site is awesomeness. It wins one internetz and 4 cookies. Article Split-Up[edit]

I know this already might have happened, but I'm suggesting that there should be two separate articles for The N. One being The N (block), and one being The N (TV channel). I'm also suggesting not to redirect the article and change it to a disambiguation page instead of redirecting. The disambiguation page will link to the block and the television channel only. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.66.81 (talk) 15:20, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The N is now defunct. TuesdayTV (talk) 16:33, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No argument here. This article should be removed. The article is most certainly TeenNick now. Time Warner Cable and DirecTV both show the channel as TeenNick.--Krazycev 13 23:15, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The N is now its own article. Canihuan300 (talk) 00:06, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
