Where to put the project's URL[edit]

Although I realize that external links are usually listed at the end of an article, I think that this case is different. The sentence "It is headquartered at www.oedilf.com" is not just a supplementary reference, it is part of the description; hence I think it belongs in the article. If this was in a print encyclopedia, that sentence might well appear; the fact that in Wikipedia these words can be clicked on is incidental, in my opinion.

Too far[edit]

@Inox-art:Hello. I'm sorry, but your edit of The Omnificent English Dictionary in Limerick Form went too far and I am reverting it. I will then make a few edits based on what you did. The page will continue to call oedilf a dictionary and not a reference work. Here is one definition of "dictionary" from the unabridged online Merriam-Webster: 3a : a general comprehensive list, collection, or repository. DavidGries (talk) 11:11, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Re: too far[edit]

@DavidGries:Hi again. I'm impressed that you found a definition of dictionary that encompasses what OEDILF has become—well done! I was being generous when I called it a reference work and your chosen definition covers it better. As to the rest, painting something in the best light, including blatant promotions to that thing, and incorrect information have no place in an encyclopedia. I will have to rewrite it again apparently.

Update: After spending some time on the site gathering info for another rewrite, I found even more errors in this promotional piece, e.g., according to its "Author" page, there have only been approximately 1,150 authors and at least 35% of those have no approved entries. I'm not fast, so it will take a while for my upcoming rewrite.
Update: It occurs to me that I should not be editing this article, so I've reverted everything to David's last edit and will not be doing more. Inox-art (talk) 22:03, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Feels like an ad.[edit]

This feels like a really bad ad for the OEDILF. Will rewrite this soon. CitationsFreak (talk) 23:51, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
