Stub?[edit]

Is this article really a stub? It has 2 nav boxes, reasonably complete plot and synopsis sections, a picture and external links. Wendell 03:34, 14 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Episode 1 and 2 Rumoured existance in uk?[edit]

Aswell as the information about The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve, i put the Power of the daleks possible existance information in aswell. here's a link to where i found this information. http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Lot/8256/landf.htm#sec.5 It also has information about other episodes that are rumoured to exist Like The Tenth Planet and The Ice Warriors episode 3. This is not any more substantial than rumours of the secret cabal that meets to watch lost Doctor Who episodes, not to mention that the article hasn't been updated since 2004, it seems, and that the rumour here is debunked. There is no mention of The Massacre. --22:31, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Regeneration?[edit]

The article states:

The concept of regeneration is not named in this serial. It was attributed after the fact by fans of the series and subsequently by the production team of The Five Doctors.

But surely regeneration is mentioned by name much earlier? In Castrovalva, for one? David 15:08, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's an awful of "facts set in stone" about the series that don't actually get established until quite late on, usually long after fandom has taken them for granted. The word "Regeneration" is not used at this time - instead it's called "renewal" - and for a time there were fans who speculated that the Hartnell-Troughton change was different. I think an early 1980s DWM still suggested this.
Hard confirmation that a regeneration took place doesn't come for nearly twenty years - The War Games just mentiones "Your appearance has changed before..." and The Three Doctors equally doesn't commit itself explicitly. The Brain of Morbius does suggest that Troughton and Hartnell were separate regenerations, but that's hardly the best story to anchor any discussion on the Doctor's lives. Later stories may use the term "Regeneration" but it's not until Mawdryn Undead that the Davison Doctor explicitly states that he has regenerated four times and has eight remaining. In The Five Doctors an exchange between the Hurndall and Davison Doctors establishes that Davison is the product of the "fourth" regeneration, Hurndall is "the original" (well standing in for Hartnell) and other dialogue further explicitly establishes the numbering for Troughton and Pertwee. Regarding Missing Serials Wiki Pages[edit]

Recently on a forum for Missing Episodes it was pointed out that should an individual with little knowledge of Doctor Who discover a canister in their attic, they may attempt to Google the title of the episode. Googling the phrase "Power of the Daleks" will result in the Wikipedia page for that article to appear at the top of the list.

The problem lies in that if the individual opens up that page and starts reading, they will not realize their film is missing until half way down the page.

I have made the change to the opening sentence in an attempt to convey this and try it out. If the structure does not work, please let me know. I would like to work with Wikipedia to see what the best solution is.

I have also posed this question in the talk page of the Missing Episodes wikipage.

"The Doctor"[edit]

It is unfortunate that someone has written, over and over again in this article, "The Doctor" with a capital T. The Pope is the Pope, not The Pope. The Queen of England is the Queen of England, not The Queen of England. Continuity[edit]

Is it really necessary to refer to the theoretical planet Vulcan here (not referred to elsewhere in the show, therefore not part of its continuity)--much less the Vulcan of Star Trek? Numbers, numbers...[edit]

"A long Dalek production line creates hundreds of Daleks; they attack the humans, and a great battle ensues. The Daleks exterminate half the colonists, but several dozens of Daleks are destroyed by laser guns." Hm, I just saw the animated version of the serial tonight, and I don't think I'd have ever said there were hundreds of Daleks on the screen, even assuming I could have tried counting. Two or three score perhaps, but to say flat out 'hundreds' strikes me as OR. Ditto, that "half the colonists" were exterminated and that any at all were destroyed by laser guns. The only Daleks I saw destroyed were taken out by the Doctor's electrical feedback. ZarhanFastfire (talk) 07:22, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Run times[edit]

Right … 

I’m looking at the given runtimes, here: AND on the iTunes store: as that’s the one store I usually download from.

Can anyone explain the discrepancies in the episode runtimes?

The animated episodes have additional credits for the animation team and extend cuts of the episode elsewhere to better accommodate the animation.
