Couldn't Robin's comment "Did you just fill a chill?" at the end of episode and Barny's entrance with James Bond music in the background be a reference to "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold?" I know it has nothing to do with James Bond, but it's the most recognizable "spy" theme, so they used it for the music... 79.107.41.45 (talk) 12:58, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is potential for a really good critical response section for this episode, rather than the easier bag of quotes type section that normally comes up. From reading several reviews there is a pattern emerging of reviewers speculating on the Barney Robin relationship and either hoping this is not the end or that other comedic aspects of their relationship will be explored. Comments about how Future Ted interprets the story and serves as an unreliable narrator also come up in various forms. An essential issue is how reviewers find it difficult to judge the episode in isolation, is it a step back unwinding the Barney Robin relationship or is it a step forward exploring whole new ideas?

TV Pulse gives more of an episode recap than a review but some of the points they highlight (Weekend at Bernies) and the reviewers obliviousness to April Bowlby (Crazy Meg) is an interesting contrast to
LA Times 'Drop Dead Diva's' Bowlby back on 'How I Met Your Mother' which drew advance attention to the return of Meg and her previous appearances, and then the actual LA times episode review.
How I Met Your Mother Episode Recap: "The Rough Patch" at TVGuide notes the use of Murder train, and also loves the appearance of Alan Thicke and draws attention to the suggestive line: "Oh we did that too"
and google leads to even more reviews

This is probably totally unnotable for most people, but I am a geek and looked up Ted's A/V gear seen in the episode, and it is:

the "TV" seen is not an actual TV, but a Philips Brilliance 230W computer monitor

Perhaps under "continuity" someone could add that at the end of the episode Future Ted said, "It turns out that they really did just need to let things run their course."
