notability![edit]

Of course we have this problem with ALL upcoming bands. Their video has just been released for their single for which the release date is just around the corner. Heavey airplay, supported some big acts such as Hoosiers and Newton Faulkner, going on headline tour. Pretty well known. Theyre notable enough, delete this article and it will just be remade after their debut single is released AceLinkOccassional (talk) 20:52, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article's history is a great example of why I hate Wikipedia sometimes. Somebody nominated the article for deletion three minutes after it was created, when the editor was still working on it and could well be about to add references and things. And then way up to the time that the article stated that the band's single was single of the week on five different programs, an admin tagged it for notability. It's brilliant the way people so wrongly assume they're being clever by changing people's comments, when in reality the result is that the person reading their little witticism falls off their chair laughing then fixes it ;)Gardenstate01 (talk) 21:48, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One could be forgiven for assuming the band themselves were having some laughs editing this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.236.183.58 (talk) 23:55, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This was a highly amusing page before some info nazi decided laughing is bad. If this band is "alternative" what the hell is mainstream - the use of alternative for The Script finally proves the term is completely meaningless. I mean using it for Coldplay is bad enough! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.151.131.148 (talk) 21:31, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Discography[edit]

Instead of arguing about whether the band are notable or not, it's about time someone got round to sorting out a discography, particularly as the album The Script topped the British (and presumably Irish) charts! Skinsmoke (talk) 18:31, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now sorted - Discography was elsewhere on Wikipedia, as was the debut album, but weren't linked to the main page! Skinsmoke (talk) 18:56, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quality[edit]

the article is awful. someone needs to fix it. there is hardly any information on the band Sebmcateer (talk) 14:40, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For a one album band they seem to be doing alright for content... and it's been rated C-class by an experienced user... they even have a discography... 8-O --Candlewicke ST # :) 17:05, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Band's success in the U.S.[edit]

Can someone please update the page with the band's chart records for the U.S. . "Breakeven" is getting radio play on many stations in the United States. I'm interested in seeing how well the band does in the U.S.! Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.115.20.210 (talk) 20:25, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's like U2, but worse. They're playing right outside my apartment tonight and I must say it's... Not alternative anyways. Where the band met[edit]

Danny O'Donoghue and Mark Sheehan are both from The Liberties area of Dublin 8 which is where they first met. If anyone wants to dispute this, please post on the discussion page first instead of adding very specific areas of The Liberties as this is inaccurate unless references are added. Change lists to prose[edit]

Both album sections read like trivia sections. They should be changed to prose instead of list format. Dylan (talk) 20:52, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PR Fluff[edit]

Does Wikipedia have a policy on content being promulgated directly by a bands PR company? Reads suspiciously like PR fluff. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Punchbear (talkcontribs) 21:12, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

How can the script really be listed as "alternative rock" ? Sonic youth are alternative, as are Nirvana, Radiohead etc. Catchy, well-written pop songs a la Maroon 5 cannot be alternative rock! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.126.243.60 (talk) 00:40, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

STOP ADDING MY TOWN![edit]

WHAT OFFICIAL MESSAGE CAN I PROVIDE TO STOP YOU ADDING MY TOWN TO THIS PAGE THE BAND DO NOT WANT IT ON HERE! PLEASE ADVISE ASAP. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheScriptOfficial (talkcontribs) 17:04, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is none. The band does not own the Wikipedia article about the band. Why do you specifically want the information removed? As a Wikipedia editor, you represent yourself ONLY. —danhash (talk) 16:17, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Danny O'Donoghue has just mentioned Mytown on the most recent episode of The Voice, so he's obviously not all that ashamed of them!--Tuzapicabit (talk) 10:21, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New Album[edit]

Band members section[edit]

I think this article needs a band members section listing their roles properly. Seems like Mark is rapping a lot on the third album. I think this must be noted. Maickellz (talk) 21:42, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Their music has been featured in many video games...[edit]

This claim seems to be false - no trace of these many video games could be found during a scan of the references or google search results.

I also made an edit to the wording of this paragraph - "many popular television programs" seemed to be clashing with the encyclopedic nature of Wikipedia, the use of the word many emphasing the plural of programs.StormingKiwi (talk) 10:22, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

Like so many Irish-based articles I've come across, this was full of peacock terms. I've whittled it down, removing pointless quotes and stuck to the bare facts. Please remember that this is an encyclopedia entry and not a promotional tool for the band.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 10:47, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Script Management Urgent Changes!![edit]

Hi Wiki,

I work for http://www.jamesgrant.com who manage The Script. I run the bands digital media. The band keep getting asked questions during interviews based on wrong info found on this page. How do we fix this urgently or remove the page? Is there an admin, manager or wiki community member who can contact me directly. I'd be happy to arrange tickets or an album for anyone who can help manage these changes.

Thanks. George James george@hookdonmedia.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by GeorgeHOOKD (talkcontribs) 12:13, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It would help if you would explain here what you believe to be incorrect and what it should be. If you can point us to independent sources that back that up then even better. noq (talk) 13:10, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I will help too. Though I cannot go to any concert (I live in Cuba) Miss Bono(zootalk) 12:11, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Sir: Although this article is about the band, it is still considered a Biographical article. You need the attention of administrators. There are official noticeboards that are actively watched and attended at all times. Please click through this link: WP:BLPNB (which is an acronym for Wikipedia:Biographies of Living Persons Noticeboard). Please be prepared to state specifically what is terrorising y'all about this article and request all that you desire. Scroll down about one screen and you will find: To start a new request, enter the name of the relevant article below: Following will be a box in which you type the exact name of this article. You may then reiterate all your concerns. No promises on success. It's easier to catch a herd of cats and declaw them without the grace of anesthesia, than it is to get an article deleted. However, changes or limits on content can and do happen on some biographies. They shall instruct you there. If by chance, it happens to be not the right noticeboard, they shall also direct you thusly to your proper complaint location. Good luck Fylbecatulous talk 22:23, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject The Script[edit]

Hello "The Script" friends and fans! There was a request on the Teahouse Questions page for assistance with this article and I was wondering if any of you might like to fulfill the request! I'm also wondering if perhaps you would be interested in starting WikiProject The Script similar to what WikiProject U2 has got going on so that I'll have a more concrete place to send this person. Anyways, Happy editing! Technical 13 (talk) 12:32, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Script: A dictatorship loving band?[edit]

The Script is heading back the Thai dictatorship to play again knowing full well that the nation is under a military junta's rule. It's should be noted that The Script are willing to play in places where free speech and human rights are not respected in exchange for profit of course. [1]

Rewriting for flow[edit]

In this edit, I've made an effort to rewrite and reorder the section "2008–2010: The Script" (at least some of it; it's long) for easier reading. My goal in the section, which I encourage others to follow, is to group similar subjects together. For example, before my edit, the section mentioned a bunch of the band's singles, then it began talking about concerts, then mentioned another single, then switched back to concerts. I believe they were initially placed in chronological order, which I admit generally makes sense for a section named History. (There were a few items out of place even using that metric, so I'm unsure if that was the original intent.) Unfortunately, when the material covered by this chronological method is sparse on details and events are described using only one or two sentences, it can result in a jarring flow that makes the page hard to read. Additionally, it tends to cause one-sentence paragraphs or occasionally paragraphs with multiple subjects, both of which also increase the difficulty of following an article.

As I said, I haven't finished that section yet, so it still may look bad. Until I've finished, I ask that you to judge my new organization method's quality only by reviewing my actual edits, not by reading the entire section.
