Untitled[edit]

Gallery Hop[edit]

I am a new user that sees the opportunity for expansion on this page. The page touches on Gallery Hop, but a more extensive section could be beneficial. Here is a suggestion: The monthly Gallery Hop takes place in the Short North Arts District of Columbus, Ohio. Around 20 art galleries open their doors to present the best work of emerging Ohio-based, national, and international artists. In addition to gallery exhibits, Gallery Hop features street performances, local food, and local drink specials throughout the Short North Arts District. Gallery Hop celebrated its 30th Anniversary in 2015 and still takes place on the first Saturday of every month, beginning officially at 4:00pm and ending at 10:00pm. Ohio Magazine has called Gallery Hop “The Best Arts Event in the State,” and former Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman said “The Short North and Gallery Hop gives Columbus its swagger!"

ComFest[edit]

I also see the opportunity to include a section on Goodale Park's annual ComFest. Here is a suggestion: The Columbus Community Festival, more widely known as ComFest, is the nation’s largest independent volunteer-run festival. ComFest is a large, free, non-corporate,music and arts annual festival held during the final full weekend in June at Goodale Park, one block away from High Street and the Short North Arts District in Columbus, Ohio. The festival was first held in 1972 and refers to itself as “The Party with a Purpose” and it provides a “forum for alternative lifestyles and collective activity.” Visitors have the opportunity to participate in workshops, hear speaker presentations, view dance and music performances, make arts and crafts, and buy food from local vendors. Pride Festival[edit]

I am a new user who thinks that Columbus' Pride Festival should be mentioned more thoroughly on the Wiki page. If the Short North is called "gay and lesbian friendly" in its introductory section on the Wiki, then the Pride Festival should be somewhat substantial. Here is a suggestion: Pride Festival - The Stonewall Columbus Pride Festival is the second-largest LGBTQ Pride festival in the Midwest, taking place in the Short North’s Goodale Park from 2009-2016. Before moving to the Short North, the Pride Festival was held in Downtown Columbus. Beginning in June 1981, the first Pride march in Columbus was attended by just 200 people. Since 1981, the Pride celebration has evolved into a three-day event with over 500,000 attendees. Because the event has outgrown the Goodale Park venue, the Pride festival will move to Bicentennial Park and Genoa Park in 2017, but the annual Pride parade will still run through the heart of the Short North. Betsy Pandora, the Executive Director of the Short North Alliance, said “The Short North Arts District has benefited tremendously from the presence of the Pride Festival and the hundreds of thousands of visitors it attracts to the Short North Arts District throughout the Pride holiday weekend. We are thrilled to continue to play host to the parade route and look forward to the growth of the event in the future.” The festival traditionally takes place during the third Friday and Saturday of June.
