Untitled[edit]

I removed the redirect to The Simpsons - as we had a listing in the Simpsons article redirecting to itself - and I also think this deserves its own article (after all Springfield Nuclear Power Plant has its own). I have heard of lifesize recreations of the house? A number of videogames allow you to walk through it.

There are some real life 742's, such as one in Las Vegas, but they tend to be poor reconstructions due to limited budget. Virtual Springfield included a good 3D house. smurrayinchester(User), (Talk) 16:50, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

Does anyone have a good image of the house? smurrayinchester(User), (Talk) 16:50, 1 November 2005 (UTC) The simpsons house is a house that has two floors.[reply]

smurrayinchester did a good job expanding this stub - Matthew238 23:37, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much! smurrayinchester(User), (Talk) 12:54, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

location within Springfield[edit]

This article should mention the different places in Springfield that this house is located as seen in different episodes. For example, it is shown next to the power plant in one episode (Ep 115, Homer the Great), and at the edge of Springfield in the movie. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 15.235.153.106 (talk) 18:08, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

740 Evergreen Terrace (Flanders's House)[edit]

Should there be a 740 Evergreen Terrace article? The number of the house is certain from the episode Das Bus, and there is quite a lot of potential information (bomb shelter, secret room full of Beatles merchanidise, spyhole in bathroom etc). smurrayinchester(User), (Talk) 16:53, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't see why not, if there is enought information on it. We just have to make sure there are enough pages that contain links to it, so that people know the article exists and gets looked at Matthew238 04:31, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Stub[edit]

This isn't a stub? This is great. Shouldn't we remove "this is a stub"? --Marcus14:59 17 feb. 2006 (norwegian user)

I agree. It is definitely way longer than the one-or-two paragraphs of even the longest stub. I've removed the message. smurrayinchester(User), (Talk) 20:49, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

living room[edit]

The article mentions that the Simpsons have a "sitting room" and also a "living room" in the back of the house. Aren't these two terms for the same thing (see living room)? Maybe the other room is the family room? Yes, no?

Worth of the house[edit]

Amusingly, I asked my spouse, a Realtor in Springfield, Oregon, what she thought the Simpson's house would sell for in this city. Because of its location, size of lot, and features of the house, she was confident that the house would sell in Springfield for $289,000. This is just meant as a little trivia. In 1987, the house would be worth under a $100,000. QuintusCinna July 4, 2007. 10:01 AM Pacific

Fair use rationale for Image:742 evergreen terrace.jpg[edit]

Image:742 evergreen terrace.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

723 Evergreen Terrace[edit]

Episode 11, Season 5, Homer reports a robbery and Chief Wiggum records the address as 723, not 742. Should there be a redirect from 723 Evergreen Terrace to this article? --Cpl Syx (talk) 20:48, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Owner of house[edit]

Ever since the season 20 episode No Loan Again, Naturally, the house has been owned by Flanders. Why does everyone change this? JCole416 (talk) 01:13, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, cause it was a one episode joke situation. If it ever comes up again, which I highly doubt, we can change it. CTJF83Talk 03:53, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Homer probably bought the house back with some of his crossword winnings or some other sort of windfall. In a later episode he mentions having a mortgage in a later episode, anyway. Lenzar (talk) 11:34, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well Seymour Skinner's wikipage contains his real name from 1 episode that was only brought up shortly years later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.229.161.123 (talk) 22:32, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"the house is owned by Homer Simpson" - Is it not owned by Homer and Marge Simpson? Adam Matan (talk) 08:12, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

 Done I added Marge. CTF83! 10:11, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures[edit]

Can anyone provide pictures of what the contest house looked like, including interior shots? This would greatly inhance the section of the article related to the contest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.172.162.156 (talk) 04:19, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking the same thing. There are plenty of them online if you search it, but I don't know how it works with copyright. I'm guessing that's why there aren't any on here. DaffyBridge (talk) 23:29, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rumpus Room[edit]

In Coming to Homerica (season 20 ep 21), the "Rumpus Room" is actually a bathroom. 76.204.123.119 (talk) 00:52, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Footnote leads to a 404[edit]

In the article text, footnote number three (<ref name=lahona/>) leads to a 404 page. Should it be replaced, e.g. by another one? --92.211.96.209 (talk) 17:33, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Daily Mail isn't considered a reliable source, so while yes it would be best to replace it with another source - not that one! There's a template you can add to footnotes & sources that appends the phrase [dead link] to it, but I can't remember it offhand. Chaheel Riens (talk) 18:31, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Here it is: {{dead link}} easy enough. I presume a bot will pick it up and populate it with the date, as is usual. Chaheel Riens (talk) 18:33, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
