Southern AustralianThe South Australian – Revert to original page name from which a redirect was made in 2016 (the newspaper changed it's name, so the latest one should have greatest weight (as per WP:NAMECHANGES)). Good examples of this are The Chronicle (South Australia), The Observer (Adelaide), Sunday Mail (Adelaide), and The Advertiser (Adelaide) all of which consistently use the final (rather than the first) name of the newspaper. Disagree with "overwhelming bulk of its existence". The newspaper ran from 1838 to 1851. A simple comparison of dates shows that the first name (1838-1844 - issues 1-570) seems a shorter time than the updated (1844-1851 - issues 571-1268). Further, the link provided is only for issues published in 1839, and not the entire 13-year run of the publication. A better link might be: this one (but as with most sites, both are dealt with separately). JabberJaw (talk) 01:19, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I misread the dates. The link shows one masthead that shows “The” was part of the name. Albeit in a smaller font. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 00:38, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Support the proposed. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 01:24, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - Arguments re ambiguity for geography and place-names can be made each way for both titles (Southern Australian / South Australian). But Australia's "national paper" The Australian exists despite the potential for confusion because that is the name in use, which is also part of the focus here. I also have no issue with using the definite article (the), in fact I understand I support it, as shown in my rationale. JabberJaw (talk) 01:19, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
