After a few years of playing music together, Jess Bowen and brothers John and Stephen Gomez, set out in the fall of 2007 to form The Summer Set with newfound vocalist Brian Dales. Jess, John, and Stephen played in a previous band called Last Call For Camden with their original singer, Kennedy Brock (The Maine) and guitarist Weston Michl. LCFC had released one CD entitled "Keep Your Feet On the Ground" before breaking up.

The Summer Set self-released their first EP, "Love The Love You Have," in November 2007. The band independently sold over 7,000 copies in a few months, which caught the attention of several record labels.[citation needed] The Summer Set signed a record deal with The Militia Group in April 2008. [1][2] Their debut EP entitled “*...In Color ” was released on iTunes June 24, 2008 and was reviewed on several music websites.[3][4][5] The Summer Set recorded an indie pop version of Usher's hit song "Love in This Club". The band released the song for download on their Buzznet page. The band released their third EP, Meet Me on the Left Coast, in December 2008, with two new tracks. It also had a "Love in This Club" as an iTunes bonus track. In 2009, the band announced they were now signed by record label Razor & Tie. The Summer Set's debut album, and first full length, Love Like This was released October 13, 2009. The Summer Set appeared on the Punk Goes Classic Rock CD released by Fearless Records, covering "I Wanna Rock and Roll All Nite" by Kiss. The band re-released their debut album Love Like This, titled Love Like Swift, on July 6, 2010, featuring five live versions of Taylor Swift songs which they covered at the Hoodwink Festival.[6] In February 2011, the band confirmed they were in the studio recording their sophomore album with producer John Fields (Jonas Brothers, Switchfoot, Jimmy Eat World, Miley Cyrus).

Tours

The band played The Bamboozle and Hoodwink festival in March of 2010. The band recently finished The AP Tour 2010 alongside Hey Monday, The Cab, Nevershoutnever!, and Every Avenue. They played on the Vans Warped Tour 2010. Their first headlining tour was in October 2010 with Stereo Skyline, Austin Gibbs, Modsun and The Downtown Fiction/Schoolboy Humor. The band will be opening the "Dirty Work Tour" alongside All Time Low, Yellowcard, and Hey Monday.

Edit request from 68.49.231.201, 21 April 2011[edit]

The bottom of history about Chelsea Kane and "Chelsea" there is a mistake in "Kane revealed that the song was written for her by Brian Dales, whom she had been in a relationship at the time". It should read "...whom she had been in a relationship with at the time".
