Recent addition[edit]

I noted this on the editor's talk page but I might as well add it here as well. A recent addition to this article claims There is contradictory evidence to suggest Longfellow (or his ancestors) were inspired by a traditional English rural song, as referenced in a 1939 Time article. Nowhere in the Time magazine article does it state that Longfellow was inspired by or imitated this particular work, or that the evidence it presents is "contradictory" (I don't see why we can't assume, if true, it is in fact complementary evidence on the poem's origins. Either way, the article merely notes the existence of another work before Longfellow's poem. Unless a source is provided which explicitly makes the connection, this is a violation of the Wikipedia policy on original research. I can not revert at this point due to the three revert rule. --Midnightdreary (talk) 16:18, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
