User:Duffbeerforme, seems like this was just a production of The Wizard of Oz (1987 musical), not a different version. See for example this source which says John Kane is the adapter. So we should cover this production at the 1987 musical page. Boneymau (talk) 21:48, 22 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Keep or Merge, delete is not an option. Interesting question that I pondered before making it. Is it the 87 version, some things suggest yes, others no. The original cast recording is notable by itself (ARIA nomination) so could be the focus of this article instead of the musical. Should it be about the show or cd? Looking again I found a statement that could be very relevant. "The necessary fidelity to the film version must have represented a challenge to director Nancye Hayes, whose brief also incorporated an adaptation of the 1987 Royal Shakespeare Company production." [1]. That says a different version, based more on the film than the 87 version. I've added a track listing of the CD. The whole Munchkin sequence seems much expanded, like in the film and in The Wizard of Oz in Concert: Dreams Come True which too it seems is based more on the film. Then it omits "March of the Winkies" which was also not in the film. It also omits "Optimistic Voices" which is in 87 and the film. Overall I don't know. The only one I've ever seen is the film. duffbeerforme (talk) 11:36, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This source also says the 1987 Kane version was used for the 1991 and 2001 Australian productions. The 1987 version is often described as being closer to the film than previous stage versions (thus its popularity). That line from The Age is a probably a little loosely worded - there was certainly a focus in Hayes' 2001 production for the set and costume design to look like the film which is what fidelity probably refers to. So I think pretty conclusive there isn't a separate 2001 musical, but of course the cast album itself is notable since it won the ARIA Award.Boneymau (talk) 08:29, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Looks very likely that's the case. I've changed it so it's about the album. I also intend to add this production to the 87 Kane version page. Someone's added it. duffbeerforme (talk) 10:55, 9 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
