Best folk band ever, followed closely by Shane MacGowan's Pogues. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.42.85.89 (talkcontribs) 18:38, 27 July 2006

The Pogues were not a folk band.

They were a rock band that riffed on Celtic and folk standards.

Just to add to this, the wolfe tones are not deeply influenced by traditional Irish music. They incorporate some motifs and licks from trad into their music. Other than that they are a straightforward folk/rock band. Check out Seamus Tansey, Matt Molloy or the like on youtube for trad. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pheasant (talkcontribs) 23:04, 4 January 2010

A Nation Once Again is not THEIR song - — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.253.240.1 (talkcontribs) 17:36, 31 October 2006

READ THE ARTICLE AGAIN, they never claimed it was THEIR song.. It was their arrangement/rendition that was voted on — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donkeyford (talkcontribs) 16:05, 22 May 2007

Rewrite needed

This is an encyclopedia, not an arena for hagiography. Can someone rewrite this in a vaguely encyclopedic tone? It's clearly already been flagged. I could go through and flag nearly every sentence with a 'citation needed' tag, but a comprehensive rewrite is what is needed. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 13:23, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

I agree entirelyjegmw (talk) 16:24, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

I think the problem is that the text has been largely cut and pasted from the band's official website, and as such lacks a little objectivity of tone. jegmw (talk) 16:26, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Three years on and it still reads like a particularly cringey fan page. Any chance? 62.255.248.225 (talk) 08:29, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

One problem I see with the page is that supposedbly there is no reason why Derek left the band... the reason is pretty well known, it was over a contract deal and some other things that can be found on the official site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.215.230.234 (talk) 03:56, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
