Inspired by[edit]

'Inspired by' suggests that a new 'creation' emerged from the Daily Express columns written by J.B. Morton, a worthy successor of the non-Vorticist Wyndham Lewis. The TV series, sadly an insipid version, was entirely based on them. And I feel sure that Barry Took would have agreed if anyone had asked him. I used to watch the programmes, largely because of Frank Palmer, Julian Orchard and Patricia Hayes. The weakest character in the programme, in my view, was always Milligan (Pamour (talk) 20:40, 3 March 2017 (UTC)).[reply]

Fuller cast list[edit]

This BBC website - https://web.archive.org/web/20060615034825/http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/w/worldofbeachcomb_1299002088.shtml - has a longer cast list, as follows:

Spike Milligan, Frank Thornton, Leon Thau, Patricia Hayes, Julian Orchard, Michael Redgrave - (series 1), George Benson - (series 1), Clive Dunn - (series 1), Sheila Steafel - (series 1), Hattie Jacques - (series 1), Betty Marsden - (series 1), Lionel Wheeler - (series 1), Ann Lancaster - (series 2), Paul McDowall - (series 2), Fred Emney - (series 2), Bill Pertwee - (series 2), Charlie Atom - (series 2), Thelma Taylor - (series 2), Bernard Jamieson - (series 2), Arthur Mullard - (series 1), Gerald Campion - (series 1)

I'm afraid I don't have time to edit them in to the article properly. Thomas Peardew (talk) 09:30, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
