The X Factor (USA) versus The X Factor (United States) versus The X Factor (U.S.)

It may not be a very urgent matter, some might even turn it down as trivial, except that it isn't trivial at all as this page will stay for very long time and a lot of pages will be added in similar fashion as seasons are added. So surely when we start a page, we better start it right and sticking to standard presentations particularly to a page that will be visited a lot. X Factor main article of the UK version sets a wonderful example of simplicity and correctness. It says The X Factor (UK). So when a page was created with The X Factor (United States) this came to me seemed as very odd as it didn't stick to the same simplicity, let alone that the name of the country is not the United States but the "United States of America" (USA for short not U.S.A. nor U.S.). I opted for sticking to the same formuls UK vs USA and tried to move the page to The X Factor (USA), but this was not possible due to a page already existing in that name, and it didn't allow me to do the move. So I copy/pasted the materials of The X Factor (United States) manually and created a redirect as there was no other choice. As to keeping the history of earlier edits by making copy paste, well the page was one or two days old anyhow and it was poorly written and full of just speculation and need quite a lot of development in all cases. Now, I see a third page has been intoduced with The X Factor (U.S.) which is worse of all scenarios: (1) It is not the official name of the country anyhow which is the United States of America not the United States (2) It is not in line with the standard "X Factor (UK)" or else we would have had The X Factor (U.K.) like we have now in this suggested page that I have reservations to, same as we wouldn't have U.A.E. but UAE and not U.S.S.R. but USSR, KSA for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia not K.S.A. etc... Usually dots are avoided in names of countries and also names of organizations like UNICEF UNRWA ASEAN FIFA etc (3): By the extra dots introduced, we are making it so difficult and adding an unnecessary layer we don't really need to and esthetic-wise it is terribly ugly. Throughout Wikipedia USA is used for America, rarely U.S. So this move to The X Factor (U.S.) is highly undesirable to say the least. I am requesting a discussion and possible moving back to The X Factor (USA) werldwayd (talk) 18:04, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

I think it should be changed to X Factor (US). Both in the media and wider cultural society America is often referred to as the US. It is best to be consistant. After all you wouldn't say its the USA version of The X Factor, you would however say its the US version. Lil-unique1 (talk) 18:53, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
"US" is British English. "U.S." is American English. American English should be used for this article. I checked several other articles for US shows when there is a UK equivalent before I moved the page, and they all use (U.S.) or (U.S. TV series). Since The X Factor articles don't use the "TV series" part, I just used "U.S.". AnemoneProjectors (talk) 19:11, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
In that case i agree with AnemoneProjectors... i checked the same and came to the same conclusion. Lil-unique1 (talk) 19:34, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Since this is the united states verison, let it be list as The X Factor USA. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cooly123 (talkcontribs) 19:08, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Only if it is called The X Factor USA. If it is just called The X Factor, then it should be located at The X Factor (U.S.). AnemoneProjectors (talk) 19:17, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

I understand it is only called the x factor (all the verison are) but since this is the usa verison lets link it to the x factor (usa).--Cooly123 00:34, 1 February 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cooly123 (talkcontribs)

You mean it should be at The X Factor (USA) and not The X Factor (U.S.)? Well, I gave my reason for using U.S. and not USA – because other articles use U.S. and not USA. Examples: The Apprentice (U.S. TV series), The Office (U.S. TV series), Hell's Kitchen (U.S.). So using USA instead of U.S. would be wrong. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 00:43, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

With the time scale of the show not being due to air for another year i think that we're best off waiting for official announcements. Although i must say that the mirror usuallys gets its reports right but it is a tabloid so we have to take things with pinch of salt. Regards, Lil-unique1 (talk) 13:21, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Too early to create this page

I think it's too early to create this page, this programme will start in a year and half..in my opinion it should become a redirect to the x factor page. ׺°”˜`”°º×ηυηzια׺°”˜`”°º× 11:16, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

I think it passes WP:GNG. A redirect would mean all the information given here would be lost. AnemoneProjectors 12:53, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
I think its notable because it is the reason that Simon Cowell left American Idol and its attracted lots of media attention. The sourcing here is good. And when more firm information is available many of the rumours, speculation and early reports will be pruned back to be given less prevelance. Regards, Lil-unique1 (talk) 13:22, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

And the informations you can put them in the x factor page, it's like when you write the pages about albums: i think on the english wikipedia they are written too early, a couple of months ago, when they don't even have the title/release date/tracks listing (like the Kety Perry's 2010 album), for this page we can wait till 2011, like for the albums till everything's confirmed or like 2 weeks or 1 week before the release date׺°”˜`”°º×ηυηzια׺°”˜`”°º× 20:28, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

An album is quite different - it has its own notability criteria at WP:NALBUMS. Comparing this to other articles which exist is exactly what WP:Other stuff exists advises people to avoid. Notability is judged by the relevant criteria (WP:GNG) and on an individual case specific to each individual article under scrutiny. Regards, although for the record i agree with you about albums/songs being made too early. Lil-unique1 (talk) 21:00, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes i just said this because the english wikipedia is a lot different by the italian one, and here you have different criterias....but its not a probblem for me, if this page passes the criterias, it can stay here, i just wanted to say that in my opinion it was too early, but thanks for having explained me all--׺°”˜`”°º×ηυηzια׺°”˜`”°º× 11:25, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Worth A mention?

This article from Digital Spy reports that upon her impressive performance on the UK X Factor, Katy Perry has been offered one of the judging positions on the US panel. It also suggests that the format of the panel will be one Brit, One American, One person known globally and one authoritative male. Is it worth a mention or is it too speculative? -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 22:21, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

I did think it was too speculative but isn't a lot of the article already speculative? Just say that it was reported by the Daily Mirror. Though I did think Nicole Scherzinger was more likely to be offered it! AnemoneProjectors 23:46, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Ryan Tedder?

I just removed a section about The X Factor from Ryan Tedder's article because it was unreferenced. Are there any actual reports of this? AnemoneProjectors 21:05, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Need to add a confirmed 'no'

I can't edit the article, but Katy Perry has confirmed she's not doing the US X Factor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuIBfhVYYt0 In fact, it's probably one of the most accurate yes or nos because she actually says it herself, haha. Speaking of which, according to Ryan Seacrest Simon is taking a break on purpose, but will be doing a big press release soon announcing everything. I don't have the article now, but if anyone would like I can find and post it later. ^^ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 23:45, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Official US X Factor Twitter and Facebook Fanpage

Just found this today and definitely thought it was worth sharing. The official US X Factor Twitter and Facebook Fanpage: Twitter: http://twitter.com/TheXFactoronFOX Facebook Fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/TheXFactoronFOX

I'm so excited. (: Not only will we always be up-to-date thanks to these pages, but these pages are indeed official so they'll only have 100% accurate info. So in a way they're probably our best thing to stay up-to-date with since it'll all be true and important stuff. Way better than just constantly searching for a bunch of articles with almost nothing but rumors and unconfirmed information. Just thought it was worth sharing, and thought you guys might want to link to the two pages for other fans and as a way for everyone to stay updated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 14:09, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

But who says they're official? AnemoneProjectors 15:22, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
FOX does. They link them on their sub-site: www.fox.com/xfactor I actually added them to the article yesterday during some other additions I added, before these talk comments. As I see it, they should be currently allowed under external links per WP:ELPEREN since the show does not have much of an online presence at the moment. Sure it technically says "when the subject of the article has no other internet presence.", but I hardly call the sub-site by fox a full-fledged internet presence. At least yet. Greekboy (talk) 18:23, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Thank you so much for the help GreekBoy! I really appreciate it. :) Sorry my reply is so late btw. :P

More Confirmed 'Nos'

Christina Aguilera has been said to not be in talks to be a judge on the show after all. One source has said there is no truth to the rumors and another said that Christina is not a top contender to become one of the judges. http://www.misformusic.com/2011/01/christina-aguilera-us-x-factor-reports-denied/ http://www.digitalspy.com/ustv/s141/the-x-factor-us/news/a300399/aguilera-x-factor-report-denied.html?rss

Also, apparently Jessica Simpson has been rumored to have a role, but she confirmed that she will not be a judge on the show via her official Twitter. http://www.digitalspy.com/ustv/s141/the-x-factor-us/news/a301921/jessica-simpson-denies-x-factor-rumour.html

So we still have no idea on who will be on the panel besides Simon. He said, on January 27, 2011, that he plans to make an announcement in about 'two weeks' though, so hopefully he is telling the truth so all the tired speculation and rumors can end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slXsvT5To60 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 19:09, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Not To Sound Rude But...

Did anyone read all my new suggestions here? I know I posted a lot, and that you guys even did some and I really appreciate it, but I still have some others I'd like done, or at least a reply as to why they weren't done if someone who can edit the article doesn't mind. Like # 17, # 18, # 20 and # 21 especially I thought were all pretty good things to update and add. But maybe that's just me.

Also, out of curiosity, is there a way to become one of the people allowed to edit this article? I promise I wouldn't put any false information or info without references or anything. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 16:27, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Yes, you can create an account. But you'll have to wait 4 days and make 10 edits first. –AnemoneProjectors– 17:36, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! Already had an account for over 4 days and had almost made 10 edits, so I went ahead and finished making enough and went in and fixed and added almost all my edits. Thanks again for telling me what I needed to do!~

need for X Factor UK

Is there need to put the X Factor UK in See Also as they have the same name and the American X Factor will be as big as UK's X Factor —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.40.244.0 (talk) 19:24, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

While that's most likely true, it's probably a good idea to keep it there since it'll help people new to the X Factor format see what the show's like. And X Factor UK is probably the one that'll be most like how the American one will be. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 01:57, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

An additional bit of info needed?

I noticed you guys said "The format of the show differs from its rivals such as American Idol in a number of ways, chiefly as the competition is open to both solo artists and groups, as well as that the judges act as mentors to the final contestants." But should we also mention that the competition is not only open to both solo artists and groups, but people of all ages? Since that is a rule of the original and since it mentions that on the Fox page? And another thing possibly worth adding "Each judge is assigned a category—girls under 25, boys under 25, individuals over 25, and groups—that they place the finalists in after the audition process, in a phase known as "boot camp"." Although it has yet to be confirmed, on the original X Factor there is a "Boot Camp" stage and then a "Judges House" stage afterwards that help decide the finalists, and it will most likely be in the American version too. So should we still add it anyway? Or should we wait for confirmation? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 01:57, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

References Needed And 'Fact' Needs To Be Changed Because of Non-Confirmed Info

"Entertainment Tonight co-anchor Nancy O'Dell is in the running to become the host of the US version." Reference please? I've looked online but can't seem to find anything. If we can't find anything saying this then I say we take it off until someone can give us an actual reference to look at.

"Japanese singer Hikaru Utada also known as "Utada" in the US , is also in the running to become a judge on the US version citing that her indefinite hiatus from her music career would generate an opportunity to commit to the program." Again, reference please? I also tried to look this up (since I'm actually kind of hoping this rumor is true, lol) but I can't seem to find anything besides the same line being on Utada Hikaru's own wiki page, and it's also un-referenced. So again, I say that unless someone gives us a reference we should remove both pieces of info until at least one article saying it can be given.

"Czech presenter and singer Leoš Mareš is also in the running to become the second male judge on the US version citing that he is compared to Simon Cowell with an arrogant personality and as well a successful music career in the Czech Republic." AGAIN, REFERENCE PLEASE? Preferably one in English too, unless someone is willing to translate a foreign article that says this. To be honest though I seriously doubt this since I also can't find it anywhere, and it seems too hard to believe. I wouldn't think anyone but mainly Americans (and maybe a few Brits if even that) would be considered for the show, and I think Simon would probably try to find people different from him so the panel isn't too similar. So again, unless someone can cough up some evidence on these three things then I say they need to be removed from this page, and from said person's said pages as well.

"Finally, on February 7th, 2011, Cheryl Cole was announced the second judge." Well, at least this one has a reference. But no, it's not confirmed officially yet. We can still leave it if people like, but I think we should change it to "On February 7th, 2011, Cheryl Cole was rumored to be confirmed as the official judge, although this still has yet to be confirmed." At least until either one of the official sites confirms it or Simon Cowell says it himself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 14:21, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Official Websites For The X Factor (USA)

While the official page on Fox for The X Factor USA is still correct, I noticed we have the old Twitter page and the link to the Facebook fanpage incorrect. (it's a dead link) I also noticed we have some new sites now for the US X Factor, so I thought I'd include them here as well for us to add. First, the official website for it on Fox, just to double-check: http://thexfactor.blogs.fox.com/ Next, the actual Facebook Fanpage For The Show (confirmed on their Twitter, in case you're curious): http://www.facebook.com/#!/TheXFactorUSA Next, the new account on Twitter that The X Factor USA has moved to, and it is now official verified too so we know 100% it's the real deal: http://twitter.com/TheXFactorUSA Next, the official X Factor USA Youtube Page, also confirmed by their Twitter: http://www.youtube.com/TheXFactorUSA And lastly, the official X Factor USA Myspace Page, also confirmed by their Twitter: http://www.myspace.com/TheXFactorUSA —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 14:21, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Errors To Correct

Hey, I noticed there are a few grammatically and spelling errors in a few parts of the articles, so I decided to quote them and then put how to fix them afterwards. Just to help make sure we have this article looking as neat as possible :)

"In the interview he did not confirm any of the new judges but said that Cole would be * good addition to the show, "I think she would be great over here - Cheryl's a star." " Needs an 'a' were the * is at. (don't worry, it wasn't there before, just putting it to show you were you need to add it ;) )

"Cowell expressed an interest in approaching Tommy Mottola, the former head of Sony Music Entertainment, (ex-husband of and the man who discovered Mariah Carey). " The part is parenthesizes should be changed to "ex-husband of Mariah Carey and also the man who discovered her." You could also change it and take away the comment after Entertainment and just have the rest of the sentence go "and the ex-husband of Mariah Carey. (and the man who discovered her) That'd fit better than just having the whole thing in parenthesizes for no reason. I dunno, I just think that sounds and looks better than (ex-husband of and the man who discovered Mariah Carey). Up to whoever reads this and edits the article though, lol.

"His former American Idol colleague Paula Abdul, was quickly linked to the role, as were his colleagues from the British X Factor, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole." Now this isn't so much a grammatical/spelling error as it is a factual one. Admittedly this is minor, but I think the last bit of the sentence should be changed to "as were two of his colleagues from the British X Factor, Louis Walsh and Chery Cole." It doesn't make too big of a difference, but the way it is it makes it seem as though those were the only other judges on that show besides Cowell, when there is actually four and one of them is Dannii Minogue.

"On February 6, 2011, it was reported by the News of the World that Cheryl Cole had signed a £10million contract to appear on the U.S. version of the show, though it was not officialy confirmed." 'Officialy' is actually spelled "officially", lol. I probably wouldn't have noticed that if not for Firefox.

"On February 8, 2011, reported by Daily Mail website that Simon Cowell seeks to find female judges as "cute" and as well particularly male judges as "unattractive" than Cowell, although those were determinations he would seek for in those judges on the US version." Wow, so much is wrong with this sentence it isn't even funny. I still have to lol though. But I think we should change this sentence to (or at least something along the lines of): "On February 8, 2011, Daily Mail reported that Simon Cowell hopes to find "cute" female judges and that the one of his qualifications for the other male judge on the show is that he should not be more "attractive" than Cowell." The sentence just flows so much better like that and makes so much more sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 14:21, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

More Rumors To Add

Supposedly Simon Cowell wants Peter Dickson from the original UK X Factor to be the voiceover guy for the American show as well. http://www.digitalspy.com/ustv/s141/the-x-factor-us/news/a302818/cowell-wants-dickson-for-x-factor-usa.html

I hope that's true actually since I love that guy's voice and he'd be perfect for the show.

Also, this isn't really a rumor or confirmation that she'll be on the show, but I think we should change the line "Cowell's close friend Sinitta, confirmed lots of people had expressed interest in the show including Mariah Carey." to "Cowell's close friend Sinitta, confirmed lots of people had expressed interest in the show including Mariah Carey, and even herself if the opportunity arises." The reason I say that is because in this clip here (and yes, you actually here her say it herself) she says that "if they really wanted her to be a judge on the show she'd have to say yes", basically saying she'd love to do the show if they wouldn't mind to let her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naYmIWPRpmY —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 14:21, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Actually per wikipedia rules things have to be sourced etc. If you work for Simon then you are not allowed to edit this page as it is a conflict of interest and you are bias. If you truly work for simon then get Syco to release a press release with all of the correct details. Otherwise stop editing the page. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 12:29, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

I am actually not biased, i work on a department, which i can't reveal which deals with his stuff and i don't have that authority. Like i said, i've checked out most of the editors of this page and half of you are from europe. Don't get me wrong,if there was a european country version of the X factor, then you can edit, but let the american and british editors do this page, or don't change info which is true. Most of what i have written, is from Simon himself, meaning that i don't have the source, until there published to the likes of digital spy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Seank100 (talkcontribs) 19:53, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

I myself am a British editor and only edit according to what reliable sources have reported. I'm afraid that the fact that you're claiming to have links to Simon Cowell means you are (by wikipedia spirit) discouraged from editing as it is a conflict of interest. You will be unable to show unbiased judgement. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 19:57, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
If you really worked with Simon Cowell, you'd probably know that several European countries have their own versions of The X Factor. –AnemoneProjectors– 22:29, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

More Nos Confirmed

"Cowell has expressed great interest in having Barbadian pop superstar Rihanna be one of the four judges on the show." She's not confirmed to be a no yet, but you might want to add it seems unlikely as she'd probably be "too busy" for the show, especially with tour dates all throughout October-December which is when the live shows would air. http://www.omgmusic.com/news/rihanna-to-be-us-x-factor-judge and http://xfactorus.tv/rihanna-to-be-us-x-factor-judge/ It's also mentioned though that if she's too busy for a permanent role he might consider having her as a guest judge or a mentor at his judges house.

"Since then Will Smith, Mick Jagger and Noel Gallagher had all been linked to judges roles on the show. It has been reported that the show's producers are in talks with singer Christina Aguilera to become a permanent judge. " As we already know, Will Smith is still confirmed to be a no. In fact Simon even said that it was funny it came up because he hadn't even talked to him about it, lol. But Mick Jagger at long last has also been confirmed as a no http://www.rte.ie/ten/2011/0209/xfactor.html And it's somewhat jokingly so it may not count, but Simon has also said 'no' to Christina Aguilera being a judge on the show as well: http://www.taletela.com/news/4923/simon-cowell-christina-aguilera-performance-was-bad No mention of Noel Gallagher though (although I haven't really looked) so he might still be in the running. Who really knows at this point. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 14:21, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

BootCamp And Judges House?

BootCamp and Judges House phases of the competition, which are on both the original UK X Factor and version of it all over the world, will be on the American X Factor as well. Here's two links about it here: http://thexfactor.blogs.fox.com/2011/01/07/pepsi-is-announced-as-the-official-sponsor-of-the-x-factor/ Bootcamp is confirmed here, specifically in the paragraph near the bottom which says: "Those contestants who survive the first auditions graduate to “boot camp” and will then be divided into four categories: girls under 25, boys under 25, individuals over 25 and groups. Each category will be mentored by one of the show’s judges, including the inimitable Cowell. The contestants will be put through the paces and mercilessly whittled down until the top acts remain." The second part of it also kind of hints at the Judges House stage, but here's another article actually mentioning the judges house phase here: http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20464443,00.html mainly in this sentence here: On X-Factor" competitors will make home visits to the judges during the evaluation process and perform in front of live audiences of several thousand right from the start to see "who can handle the pressure," adds Cowell." There was a third and final link I was going to include that completely confirmed the Judges House round and even had Simon talking all about it in a radio teleconference with TMZ but TMZ still has yet to re-upload the video sadly, so I can't give it as a reference. (at least not right now, but hopefully they will soon) Sadly I didn't catch all of it either since it was live and I only caught the last few questions of it, so I might be missing some details, but since those two rounds are still confirmed I believe we should add them in. It just doesn't look right to just have Auditions and then Live Shows, because we know the show won't work that quickly, lol.

For starters I think we should edit this quote right here: "Each judge is assigned a category—girls under 25, boys under 25, individuals over 25, and groups—that they place the finalists in after the audition process. Through the live shows, the judges act as mentors to the contestants helping decide song choices and styling." and change it into "After the audition process, the show goes through a phase called Bootcamp, similar to Hollywood Week on American Idol, where the judges work together on bringing the number of contestants down into a small group of finalists, with an equal number from each of the four categories. After that each judge is assigned a category out of the following categories -- girls under 25, boys under 25, individuals over 25, and groups, and the judges further eliminates contestants in their category in a phase known as "Judges House", until they have the finalists for the live shows. Then from the live shows onward, the judges act as mentors to the contestants helping decide song choices and styling." or something similar. Until we get more info we can use info on the BootCamp and Judges House phases from the British X Factor article as our guide. Speaking of which, in the Format section, I think we should also have sections for BootCamp and Judges House as well. We know they exist and we have enough info about what they'll be like and what order they'll go in from the original British show. Auditions will still stay first under the format section, BootCamp can go after since it'll be second, then Judges House will be after Bootcamp, and then the Live Shows section can be last, since that's most likely how the show will go down. I get wanting confirmation on everything but I think the fact that we know that they same phases will exist and what the show is based on I think it'll be fine to put it for now, because we can always change anything later if necessary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.177.71.198 (talk) 14:21, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Title change?

I was wondering, should we change this article's title to The X Factor (USA)? The reason I was wondering is because if you notice all the official sites say The X Factor USA, not U.S. I think it'd also look a bit better as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1Dbad (talkcontribs) 11:29, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Well, the show is just called The X Factor, not The X Factor USA. We went with (U.S.) as a disambiguator based on other American TV show articles on Wikipedia. –AnemoneProjectors– 12:15, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
I know that, lol. But since we have to have the (U.S.) thing to held differentiate it from all the other X Factors, I was just wondering why we couldn't use USA instead. Mainly because the USA thing is what the official Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and Youtube refer to it as. X Factor USA, not X Factor U.S. Admittedly it doesn't make much of a difference since any variation leads to the same page, but figured it'd be best to go with what the official sites use to help differentiate it. 1Dbad (talk) 04:41, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
My thought is that since it's part of the disambiguator and not the actual title of the show, we should go by Wikipedia standards. There's no official guideline (that I can see) but the majority of articles use (U.S.) rather than (USA). –AnemoneProjectors– 08:44, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I would argue that it should actually be called The X Factor (U.S. TV series) after all the page on the UK one is called The X Factor (UK TV series)Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 14:19, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 01:32, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
No it isn't, it's The X Factor (UK). –AnemoneProjectors– 19:18, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
But like you just said, there is no official guideline we can see. And while the majority may use (U.S.), which is fine, we know that the official sites are using (USA). So maybe the reason the majority use (U.S.) is because they have no confirmation one way or another; but we actually do. Not to mention USA would still be a disambiguator, so I don't really see what harm using a different title would do. Plus (USA) seems closer to the style used on the UK's article, which have it as UK. See? (USA) and (UK) seem closer, while U.S. would seem closer if the UK used U.K. But atlas it doesn't matter too much, so just whatever you think. 1Dbad (talk) 21:53, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I believe (U.S.) is used over (US) because that's the American English spelling, which we use for this article as the subject is an American one. For example, compare Big Brother (U.S.) and Big Brother (UK), or Hell's Kitchen (U.S.) and Hell's Kitchen (UK), or many others that I can't think of off the top of my head. –AnemoneProjectors– 23:38, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Ah I see. I knew people used both US and U.S. but ironically I didn't know U.S. was mainly used because it's the American English spelling. (which is ironic because I'm an American who lives in America, lol) But okay I see now. Thanks a lot for explaining it to me. (and putting up with me) 1Dbad (talk) 06:47, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Wouldn't it make more sense to call it The X Factor (USA) since, after all, U.S. is just a colloquial shorthand for USA? We might as well be proper about it. Also, not to mention, when you begin typing the title into the search box, The X Factor (USA) shows up as a suggestion, and The X Factor (U.S.) does not. Indication of how many people are searching for it? nethnet 23:40, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
We're just matching other articles. The search box suggestions shouldn't come into it. It depends how you type it. The only suggestions I got were The X Factor (US) and The X Factor (U.S.). But it doesn't matter because if someone gets The X Factor (US) or The X Factor (USA), they'll be redirected to here. They only come up as suggesions because they exist as redirects. –AnemoneProjectors– 23:45, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Logo image.

thumb|250px Can this article not just use the X-Factor logo from the original British Xfactor series rather than the low quality version currently used. The two are identical. I can understand why the British logo wasn't added before, but now we've seen that the US one will feature the same logo why does it need two images? thumb|left|250px Alexsau1991 (talk) 23:13, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

The UK article is displays a screenshot from the show. We do not know if the opening sequence of the US version will be the same, let alone how they plan to display the logo. Furthermore, if you size down the UK title card, you will notice that there are some minor differences with the US logo. The US logo seems to become more narrow at the top. Greekboy (talk) 00:48, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

No need for periods in title.

There is no "The X Factor (U.K.)", so there should not be a "The X Factor (U.S.)". We can make the article uniform with this and request a page move. If someone doesn't agree, please say so here. I will explain myself further if that is the case. I Help, When I Can. [12] 23:42, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Please see #Title change? above, where I explained why it's "(U.S.)" instead of "(US)". –AnemoneProjectors– 23:55, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
I read it, and I am American, and I can tell you that "US" is definitely more common in American English. I could probably get some MLA/APA cites on it. I Help, When I Can. [12] 00:08, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
Right, well the majority of Wikipedia articles use "U.S.", so we should follow what Wikipedia does. –AnemoneProjectors– 00:17, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
Also, see United States. It says "also referred to as the United States, the U.S., the USA..." –AnemoneProjectors– 00:18, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Cole "out"

Unfortunately, faster than a speeding bullet I've reached 3RR on this, but can someone please revert the madness ocurring here. Cole's replacement with Scherzinger has NOT been confirmed, and so we should wait until it is (which won't be long) before changing the article. In any case, she should not be removed as a judge altogether as she has already started in the role, much like Brian Friedman in series 4 of the UK version. And, no matter how obvious it may be, confirmation that Scherzinger will no longer be hosting the show would also be needed to remove her from the infobox. I have requested that this page be semi-protected. U-Mos (talk) 23:53, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

No. We need an official source, ie. 100% concrete proof from the show itself. What we have are two tabloid papers. WP:RS. If it's true (which I agree it looks to be), it won't be very long before it is confirmed so just wait. WP:RECENT applies here. U-Mos (talk) 00:09, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

WP:SPECULATION is the particular relevant section I think. U-Mos (talk) 00:16, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
How is it gossip? Everywhere is reporting the same thing. I haven't seen the word "claimed" anywhere, only "officially reported". I highly doubt they would lie about sacking her after Simon tried so desperately to get her on. And Sky News is not a tabloid. calvin999 (talk) 00:17, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
The two sources you added both said "claimed". And the headline had inverted commas in it, also showing that it is merely a claim and not a confirmation. –AnemoneProjectors– 00:20, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
The Sun have just updated their article and removed the word "claimed". –AnemoneProjectors– 00:21, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Sky news were reporting on the reports, however they have now added "Sky sources have confirmed reports." at the bottom of the article. [3] Not sure how sources of this sort are handled, AP? U-Mos (talk) 00:22, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure what that means but it still says "according to reports", so that doesn't seem official. –AnemoneProjectors– 00:24, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Sky News: "The showbiz sie TMZ claims"....... calvin999 (talk) 00:26, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
I think it's all coming from TMZ at the moment. They have "sources close to the production" apparently, but for all we know, that could be the tea lady. –AnemoneProjectors– 00:32, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
It will be interesting to see what the official statement reads because presently the media has reported everything from "Cole felt left out" to "Cole lacked chemistry with Abdul" to "Cole felt like Reid was a man of his own while Cowel and Abdul cosied up" to "The American public had trouble understanding her" and even "After the overwhelming backlash that UK producers faced over hiring N-Dubz's Tulisa, Cole was lured back to the UK with a £1m contract to judge alongside Kelly Rowland, Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh". So in light of this i'd rather wait thanks. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 02:33, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
I doubt an official statement would give a reason if it's something "controversial", which all of those reasons are. –AnemoneProjectors– 09:38, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
With the media (UK at least) widely reporting this, what I'd now say is the infobox should remain as it is but the reports can be cited in the prose judges section of the article proper. U-Mos (talk) 10:45, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
I don't mind that, no. As long as we just say it was reported/claimed/whatever. If it's denied or confirmed, we can add that when it is. –AnemoneProjectors– 11:33, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

http://twitter.com/#!/lizo_mzimba/status/77774707792941056 Looks like official confirmation of the judging switch is imminent. However, let's re-assert again that Cole will be appearing as a judge for the auditions she's already filmed, so should not be removed from the infobox (if/when a second season is confirmed, "(2011)" can be added next to her name). U-Mos (talk) 16:41, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

And as I speak, it's on the article. Excellent. U-Mos (talk) 16:45, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Should we put Nicole before or after Paula? --MSalmon (talk) 16:47, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
I was told before when editing the article to list the judges in the order they were confirmed, which means Nicole should be put after Paula, since she was technically last to be confirmed. I can see why people are putting her before Paula though, since that was formerly Cheryl's spot and she is Cheryl's replacement. Personally I'd prefer for her to be put after Paula since I think listing them in order of announcement makes sense; but I don't mind too much either way so I'd be fine if people would prefer to leave it as is. 1Dbad (talk) 17:51, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Paula Abdul was named a Judge before Nicole Scherzinger who was originally named a Host. Paula Abdul should therefore be listed above Nicole Scherzinger based on Judge Announcements. PeterAKer (talk) 21:12, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

The Judges List

Since Cheryl has left the show, I think we should put something to clarify that she has. Personally I think we should put that she's a former judge. Even though the show hasn't aired yet, I think the fact that she was originally supposed to be a permanent judge and did film two cities worth of auditions are good enough reasons to list her as such. 1Dbad (talk) 17:51, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

I cannot find this right now, but I am certain that it is wikipedia policy not to refer to any stars of tv shows as "former" in an infobox. Instead we can put the years of their participation in brackets next to their name. See American Idol and The X Factor (UK), for instance. So far this show has only one season, and Cheryl is a judge in it. If that changes and a second season is confirmed, the year 2011 can be added next to Cheryl's name. That is all. U-Mos (talk) 20:17, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Oh okay, if that is Wikipedia's policy then fine by me. Although, is that really all we can do? I really wish we could say something since she's no longer a judge...it just seems so weird to have five judges listed without anything saying one is of them is no longer one.
Oh, and by the way, The X Factor (UK) still has "former" in their infobox, and has for as long as I can remember. 1Dbad (talk) 01:37, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
But really, she is one. The first season has not yet begun, and she is a judge on it. As for the UK page, that has clearly been changed lately. And I'm going to change it back. U-Mos (talk) 10:52, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
"As long as you can remember"? It was changed yesterday. You must have a very bad memory. –AnemoneProjectors– 10:59, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, but only for two episodes. But okay then, if there is really nothing we can do until the season begins/a second season is confirmed I'll just have to let it go until then. And yeah it has, but I do remember it being like that before.
And @Anemone I don't have a bad memory at all, in fact it's quite fantastic. And I know it was changed yesterday, but I've been following the page since late 2007/early 2008 and I do remember Former was used off and on for a good while on there. 1Dbad (talk) 14:37, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
I agree something needs to be done to indicate she is no longer a judge - what should be done I'm not sure - but she has been removed from the Fox website too so they clearly consider her 'former'. I agree former is not the right term for this but while the show may not have started airing yet she is still no longer a judge and we should indicate this... Maybe it would be better to remove her all together from the infobox and feature only current judges? At current of course, we have no idea how (or even if) she will be presented when the show does air... 2.98.170.89 (talk) 23:44, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Yes 1Dbad you're right, it did used to say that. But I made it neater a while back and now it stays that way (or is reverted to that way). Well I can't see that they wouldn't show auditions that featured Cheryl Cole as a judge, and I don't think they would re-audition everyone, so they'd have to deal with it. I imagine it'll be something like they did with Brian Friedman in the UK. Can't we just stick "(auditions)" in next to her name, and if there's a second season, put (2011) like we did with Friedman in the UK? –AnemoneProjectors– 23:58, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Yep!~ And I'm glad you did, I actually like how it looks a lot better now. (for the record, my deal was never with using former or not using former, I just want some distinction with Cole since she's no longer a judge) As for the current topic, I recall reading an article that said one of the producers of the show said they'll leave all the footage of her in tact like they did with Brian Friedman. And because the footage will be left in, Cheryl should be left in the infobox. She was a judge so she still deserves credit, even if it was just for two audition cities.
And I love your idea AnemoneProjectors. Surely we can at least do that, right? 1Dbad (talk) 00:39, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Question: Since no one said they didn't want it, can we add "(auditions)" next to Cheryl Cole's name? 1Dbad (talk) 13:44, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Simon spilled

He did an interview with The Mirror newspaper, confirming she has been sacked, even though they offered the place again after she declined X Factor UK, but she didn't return calls. So Nicole was announced. calvin999 (talk) 19:18, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

"New" Sponsor

Could someone please add Chervolet to the list of official sponsors under the Media sponsorship section? I would do it myself but I'm horribly rushed for time at the moment. 1Dbad (talk) 15:17, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Since I had some time today I went ahead and added it in myself. I believe I did it right but if I made any mistakes feel free to fix it. I must say I was a bit surprised to see no one had already done this though. 1Dbad (talk) 13:44, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Cole in Infobox

Should Cole be listed as a judge in the infobox even if it was for two shows? --MSalmon (talk) 22:07, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Yes, especially as she will be seen in the first episode and her departure and replacement will be explained in the it (Cowell has confirmed this). –AnemoneProjectors– 13:18, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
Then why does someone keep removing her then? --MSalmon (talk) 13:40, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

US X Factor Renewed For A Second Season

I didn't know what to do with this but I figured it was at least worth mentioning. http://www.entertainment-focus.com/news/x-factor-usa-to-return-for-a-second-series 1Dbad (talk) 22:08, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

The X Factor U.S. or The X Factor USA

im confused... when this airs on ITV2 in the UK the logo says The X Factor USA. In press and media it is referred to as such. Why was it moved? — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 18:37, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

I support "The X Factor USA" it's marketed as such and that's even what the official site's url is. --Shadow (talk) 19:13, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
But it's credited without the brackets, so shouldn't it be The X Factor USA, instead of The X Factor (USA), no? --Unreal7 (talk) 22:00, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
Agreed. The official website is titled "The X Factor USA," though on the website itself it's just called "The X Factor." Unless someone can come up with a better argument and/or consensus, we should go with the closest thing to an "official" title. If we have an agreement on that for the name, we should also update the title of The X Factor (U.S. season 1). I see that the US version of The Office goes The Office (U.S. TV series), but then again, the NBC website is just title "The Office," not "The Office USA." OhNoitsJamie Talk 00:11, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
If the show is called "The X Factor USA" then we should call it that. What is it called in the USA? In the UK it's called that, but that's not what matters. If it's just called "The X Factor" then we use (U.S.) as the disambiguator, as with all other U.S. shows on Wikipedia. This has been discussed before by the way, which is why the page was already moved several times, and we all agreed on the title it has now. Whoever tried to move this page and/or move it back made a real mess, by the way. –AnemoneProjectors– 13:47, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
OK, fair enough. I only moved it once, but prior to that, editors where edit-warring on the location, making it hard to find the history. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:37, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, the history of the three related pages ended up deleted because one of the redirects got deleted and they all pointed to the deleted redirect! Also, all the redirects for the contestants got deleted, but I've fixed everything now (or at least everything that was on my watchlist, I hope I've not missed any). –AnemoneProjectors– 14:53, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
In response to your question, on air they just call the show The X Factor as expected. However, the official site's url, the show's facebook page, etc are labeled The X Factor USA. --Shadow (talk) 14:55, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
I personally think we should go with the on-air name - I presume the opening credits just says "The X Factor" as well. –AnemoneProjectors– 15:03, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Seasons sections?

There's virtually no information in either the Season 1 or Season 2 sections. Are they needed? I know there's way more seasonal info in American Idol, but there's almost nothing here apart from the previews and producers' auditions. - Unreal7 17:38, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

The UK version doesn't have the seperate series sections (as it is in the series summary) --MSalmon (talk) 23:28, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Listing Abdul's departure is premature

I've yet to see a reputable source confirming this12bigbrother12 (talk) 12:24, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Unless Fox have confirmed this then leave it as if she is still a judge --MSalmon (talk) 14:14, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Yup, I agree, she's still part of the show until Fox have said otherwise.JackJackUK (talk) 18:01, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Is there a statement from Fox on Jones & Scherzinger's departures on the website? --MSalmon (talk) 18:02, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
According to DigitalSpy http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/s141/the-x-factor-us/news/a362986/nicole-scherzinger-exits-x-factor-usa-paula-abdul-also-leaving.html, which explicitly says 'confirmed by Fox', we can be assured its true. Steve Jones is definitely true nonetheless as he's said so on his own Twitter.JackJackUK (talk) 18:10, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Ok, so Jones is a definate, what about Scherzinger or Abdul --MSalmon (talk) 18:12, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
All three are not definite until FOX confirms. Twitter fails WP:V so they cannot be constituted as Steve being OUT. I can go on Twitter and announce I'm a new host, you know what I mean? MusicFreak7676 TALK! 18:14, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Musicfreak what are you talking about? DigitalSpy is a reputable source thanks that explicitly says 'CONFIRMED BY FOX'. How does that not confirm it? And the fact Steve Jones has said on Twitter shows he IS out. If we use your logic, then we can't be sure Fox saying they're out is even true as someone may have hacked the website.JackJackUK (talk) 18:17, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Sorry but American sources are not saying CONFIRMED BY FOX. Digital Spy is a UK site, and I think since this is a US series, we should await Fox's confirmation. And Twitter itself fails WP:V so we can't go on someone's word. MusicFreak7676 TALK! 18:20, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
So? Just because it's a UK-based site doesn't mean it posts rubbish about US-based stuff. It's got a section for US TV, you're not telling me that's all made-up rubbish are you? They would not put 'confirmed by Fox' if it was false.JackJackUK (talk) 18:21, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Until Fox can confirmation Paula's exit, we are not listing it. Nicole and Steve are back to being listed as ended. And until Fox can confirm or deny from their own site, we await their answer. MusicFreak7676 TALK! 18:25, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
You obviously haven't read what I put because I haven't even mentioned Abdul. It was me advocating at the start to not have her listed because there is no confirmation, yet you were trying to say that there was no confirmation for Jones and Scherzinger when there was.JackJackUK (talk) 19:16, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Great. None of you replied to me. Instead you guys just raced to see who can put that info first before being removed. Remember it must be directly from FOXTV Network's mouths. Sources such as these above are rumors and it says that its according to E! so that's not an official confirmation.Bleubeatle (talk) 09:59, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Why Do Crappy Performers Make it to Air

Not a word about this in the article. Thousands of talented singers audition. The celeb judges obviously don't hear all of them. So if this is a bonafide talent competition, selecting the very best, the ones that make it before the star judges should all be excellent and we'd be hard pressed to choose. Yet, here as well as on Idol, they still show people who are terrible, presumably for the entertainment value. The pre-screening therefore is not about selecting the best to be on the show. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.245.133.33 (talk) 07:04, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

Demi Lavato getting burned

how come we don't have a section where that one guy burned her on Live TV on how she uses auto tune, I don't watch this drek on TV, nor do I care about reality shows, but this was one of the funniest moments on tv — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.193.18.82 (talk) 20:17, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Simon's finalists

Any sources on the last two groups of his category? The only revealed acts of his were Lyric 145 and Emblem3 -- the show was cut off before the last two groups were shown. Plus Fox never aired the whole episode themselves, so there's no airing of the episode to date that has shown the entirety of the top 16. HerroLink 04:44, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

here in Canada we only missed 2 going through, we will find out tomorrow i guess. Skylerbuck (talk) 02:28, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

I know, I watched the CTV airing after Fox cut theirs off halfway through. Both groups got revealed tonight anyway on Fox's airing of the second half, so the listings are correct now :> HerroLink 02:36, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

New categories

I can see from this article that the categories have changed for season 2 but can someone please explain in the article about the changes and what defines the categories? It would be quite helpful to readers of this article who don't watch the show (like me)! Thanks. –anemoneprojectors– 15:14, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

In fact the categories for season 1 aren't even explained. –anemoneprojectors– 15:15, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
The "boys" and "girls" groups from last season where those who were under 28 years old (they chose to split the groups by sex as opposed to age for those categories). For this year: teens is those from 13 (youngest age allowed) to 17, young adults is 18-24 year olds. HerroLink 04:53, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for explaining. I noticed that last year's categories are explained in the lead section, but aren't named "boys", "girls" etc. This needs to be updated for the changes this year. It should go somewhere in the "Format" section. –anemoneprojectors– 10:40, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
It's still not in there. I'd really urge someone to write about the definition of this year's and last year's categories. –anemoneprojectors– 07:52, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
I don't think it was that hard to change, but done. HerroLink 04:28, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Overview Infobox colors

I really think we need to find new/darker colors for this infobox. You can barely see them. --Shadow (talk) 02:08, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Tone and shade-wise, the colors look fine as is. The "teens" and "boys" category colors are extremely close to each other though (different shades of blue), and one of them should be changed. HerroLink 03:22, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
I disagree. Only the blues show up well in my opinion. The others you can really only tell by paying close attention. If we are going to use colors on these templates they needs to be easy for everyone to see. --Shadow (talk) 23:27, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
They're not all too hard to see, but some are too similar. However, we shouldn't be using colour to convey information. It would be better to write the name of the category under the name of the contestant. –anemoneprojectors– 23:42, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

Season overview vs Series overview

This keeps getting changed to "season overview" in the article; however, the section is an overview of the entire series as a whole, making "series overview" more accurate. "Season overview" makes it sound like the show aired and only got one season, plus in the section's columns one distinctly notes "season" with a number below, so really now... HerroLink 01:34, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

I have changed it to season details so it is an overview of "both" seasons of the show (season needs to be kept as that is what it is) --MSalmon (talk) 09:37, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
It's the overview of the entire series, not the individual seasons. "Season overview" implies the overview of a single season. So "Overview of seasons" would make more sense, but pointless, as "series overview" says the same thing. –anemoneprojectors– 14:00, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
It is not a series its a season in america --MSalmon (talk) 15:03, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
I'm not talking about the individual seasons, I'm talking about the entire series. That's called a series in both countries. So "Series overview" is fine. "Season details" implies details from a single season, which it is not, and also it gives the impression that it will be detailed, which is also wrong. –anemoneprojectors– 16:22, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't realise it was called a series in both countries, so I have changed it back --MSalmon (talk) 16:37, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
It can be hard to explain I guess! The lead of the article could easily say "The X Factor is a reality television series", for example. –anemoneprojectors– 16:39, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
This is kind of my fault to begin with. I didn't understand at first either. I agree that we should be keeping it as series. --Shadow (talk) 23:27, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
Finally! Sorry, but I just had to... --Musdan77 (talk) 04:58, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi, can we please make this page Pending changes only like the UK article due to continuous addition of unsourced content. by IP's. --MSalmon (talk) 14:15, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

  • I'll second the motion; the amount of rumors and speculation that surrounds this show makes the article prone to vandalism. We need this protection to avoid the useless back and forth editing that has become far too common. WikiRedactor (talk) 19:53, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

User:31.183.4.253 and good faith edits

If we review the article history there are significant contributions from this editor. Yes they are unsourced and subsequently reverted but I believe these are good faith edits and the users record can be seen to reflect interest in the show and accuracies pertaining to it. What I fear is happening here is that we are disregarding these contributions out of hand. If you review the users talk page I've tried to address the issue but for whatever reason it has gone unanswered. I would ask of the other editors to treat them as good faith edits. We can't expect every editor to <ref></ref> each name change can we? I feel it is a positive effort of the editor in question that we should not label erroneous. He or she may not garner our trust through the usual channels here on Wikipedia, but we should not in return show distrust on sight.Geremy Hebert (talk | contribs) 15:15, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Necessary why? --Musdan77 (talk) 19:50, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Straight from the guidelines: Use the following when there are two or more television productions of the same name.

  • Prefix the country of broadcast – (U.S. TV series)

A similar move just happened that moved The Voice (U.S.) over to The Voice (U.S. TV series). WikiRedactor (talk) 20:18, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

I'm not saying not to, but it's not really necessary. There isn't more than one show named The X Factor in the U.S., etc. The main reason for changing The Voice (U.S.) was because the original (in Finland I think) was simply called The Voice (TV series). But, if you want to do the work, go for it. --Musdan77 (talk) 20:51, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
The Voice (TV series) is a franchise article. The original series indicated in that article is The Voice of Holland. This franchise article should be renamed to The Voice (TV franchise) or The Voice (media franchise). -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 07:16, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
