1887 election[edit]

The Dictionary of Canadian Biography entry [1] says "In 1887, running as a Conservative, Daly was elected to the House of Commons for Selkirk, a seat he would hold until the general election of 1896, when he declined nomination.". This does not agree with his parliamentary biography [2] and the riding history [3]. But, The Canadian parliamentary companion, 1887 [4] shows the riding results as:

SELKIRK, MAN.
T.M. Daly, C 2787
John A. Christie, L. 2608

and the biography for John A. Christie at the Manitoba Historical Society states that "In 1887, he ran as a Liberal candidate to the federal parliament, for the Selkirk constituency, but was defeated by Thomas M. Daly." [5]. --Big_iron (talk) 09:16, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The election results for Selkirk and the parliamentary file for Thomas Mayne Daly have been corrected to reflect the fact that Daly was elected in 1887. I hae updated this article accordingly. --Big_iron (talk) 16:12, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
