Mortgage?[edit]

The article states that "Mary Wheeler defaulted on the mortgage and lost the house in 1897, taking it out of the Wheeler family after almost a century." If the family had acquired the house more than 100 years earlier, why was it (still) under mortgage? This should be explained. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 22:09, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
