Indian vs. India-born[edit]

Mar Thomas Padiyath (born 14 January 1969) is an Indian-born bishop of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church...

Why is he identified as "Indian-born" rather than just "Indian"? We typically only use the "-born" phrasing when someone is born in one country, but their nationality is uncertain for other reasons (e.g., see Kevin_Farrell who is "Irish-born" but was a priest in Mexico and then a bishop in the United States). Is there any valid reason we should not identify Thomas as "Indian"?  — Archer (t·c) 21:28, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
