Clean Up[edit]

This article has only one source, and it only backs up an out-of-date train timetable. As a resident of Thorntonhall, I do believe it's an affluent village, but there aren't any sources stating it as the wealthiest place in Scotland.

The demographics part should also be scrapped. It has no sources, and is highly likely to be unreliable. Almost all residents in Thorntonhall do own their own home, and have over the average salaries, but I doubt it's as high as the claims.

The country club also needs to be edited. There are several false claims about events posted here.

The Railway links section has been vandalized, and therefore I'll individually change that now. As for the other sections, I will not edit any for 7 Days.

Responds please, everybody.

Pushpin map[edit]

East Renfrewshire is shown first on the maps on the side. South lanarkshire being the county the place is in should probably appear first Eastwood Park and strabane (talk) 17:24, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Serious accuracy issues[edit]

This article is on the whole quite poor, with numerous errors. Someone needs to take the time to invest skill and credible sources in making a worthwhile article for Wiki. Thorntonhall was never intended as a potential wartime retreat for Government departments (this is confusion with certain railway provisions); it was never intended as a suburb similar to a min-Edinburgh sort of scheme as described; there is no evidence the feu plans commenced, with the three villas erected pre-WWI related to individual feu purchases; and Cooper was not the name of the individual grocer who took on Thorntonhall House. Thorntonhall was also not just a farm that had several buildings added to it. The settlement has a far more complex origin involving several farm estates in combination with two residences forming gentlemen's estates. The use of the term 'free standing village' has no real meaning or relevance here in the description of Thorntonhall as a separate settlement, or arguably as a village (is it even a village in terms of infrastructure?). 'Upper Class' is used in the wrong context for higher end or premium housing, whereas this term harks back to class distinctions which are not helpful in understanding this period of housing. There also doesn't appear to be credible evidence that all or most of the Thorntonhall House additions relate to the family who took them on in the 1800s. This needs contextualised and developed, with GOOD evidence. 82.43.88.129 (talk) 09:29, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Further error[edit]

Further to above. Ravenscroft should say Ravenscourt. The issues are such that if they are removed, there is nearly no worthwhile article left. Should it be deleted and started from scratch? 82.43.88.129 (talk) 10:34, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
