Argument for merge[edit]

This person is a doublet of Lucius Aurelius Commodus Pompeianus; in his translation of the Historia Augusta, he identifies the Pompeianus mentioned there with L. Aurelius Commodus Pompeianus. There was a historical (Tiberius ?) Claudius Pompeianus Quintianus: Paul Leunissen identifies him as one of the Senators who was executed during the first attempted assassination of Commodus, citing HA. "Commodus" 4.2-4; Dio 72.4.4-5; & Herodian 1.8.4-5. There is another mentioned in an article by H.G. Pflaum ("Les gendres de Marc-Aurèle", Journal des savants, 1961, pp. 28-41"], but he appears to be the consul ordinary of 235. Considering some of the usernames attached to this article, I'm not surprised this is a confused article. So either this article is merged, or it should be deleted so an article about the real senator (who is somehow related to Marcus Aurelius) can be written. -- llywrch (talk) 07:11, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Procedurally, can I suggest:
  1. moving the current Pompeianus article to Tiberius Claudius Pompeianus Quintianus, then
  2. fixing Tiberius Claudius Pompeianus Quintianus once moved.
  3. redirecting Pompeianus to Pompeianus (disambiguation), on the grounds that there is no clear primary topic.
