Missing information[edit]

  • Area: Seattle Parks and Recreation gives a figure of 0.01 acre (~400 square feet or ~40 square meters), which is obviously wrong. I've left this figure out of the article and am waiting for a more credible one to come along.
  • Age: We know that the statue was unveiled in 1912, but I haven't found out when Tilikum Place itself was created. Sherwood's notes say "About 1908 Dept. given--maint. + Impr. of 'Chief Seattle Pl.'". If this was the date Tilikum Place was given to the department of Parks and Recreation, Sherwood must not have been very sure about it, because he left it out of his typed summary. A photo from November 1911 shows the base of the statue by itself, apparently with streets on all sides.
