Design Philosophy[edit]

I was just chastised by the CorenSearchBot that I "violated" copyright by cutting and pasting from http://opensource.dyc.edu/tin which is my own site --- clearly not a copyright violation! I wanted to use a large chunk of that text as a starting point.

Notability versus Time[edit]

How long does one have to establish notability before an article is removed/redirected? Who decides if an article has achieved notability? It takes time to grow an article from a stub. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Virtualblueness (talk • contribs) 22:04, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The notability guidelines are listed here: Notability Guidelines. There is no timeline for this article to be merged/deleted. The header that someone placed at the top of this article is meant to notify other editors who are willing to do necessary work to merge, or re-work the article if necessary. If the nomination for deletion (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion) is placed on this page, then it would be up for discussion whether or not the article meets the notability guidelines.

AS A GENERAL (widely-accepted, but unofficial) RULE: A product or organization is notable if there are three independent results on Google for the product or organization mentioned in the article. This means that this page could potentially be considered non-notable (and then deleted) until Google supplies three independent sites referencing Tin Hat Linux. I hope this helps!

live cd[edit]

The common definition of a live cd (as also found in Live CD "A live CD, live DVD, or live disc is a complete bootable computer operating system which runs in the computer's memory, rather than loading from the hard disk drive") says nothing about mounting or not mounting anything from the boot medium. Also, Tin Hat Linux even _loads_ something (the boot image) from the boot medium → I rewrote this sentence: "Tin Hat boots from CD, or optionally from USB flash drive, but it is not a LiveCD in that it does not mount any file system from the boot device."
