General Edits[edit]

I have made a number of changes today at the request of the subject of this entry, Tina Knowles. There was inaccurate and out of date information throughout. I will try to add additional citations as soon as I can. If there are any particular issues with the changes, please discuss here, rather than reverting the entire entry. Thank you. This states in the article that she was born in Louisiana, but then in the sidebar it says she was born in Texas. That needs some clarification. (Myrab51 (talk) 14:12, 14 April 2014 (UTC))[reply]

Divorce[edit]

Currently the article reads that she filed for divorce in 2009 for an affair taking place in 2011.

Now, since time travel isn't possible and I'm fairly certain she's not crazy enough to divorce for something she expected to happen in two years, I'm confident that this is worded in error. 80.92.52.57 (talk) 10:11, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tina Knowles vs. Tina Lawson[edit]

Shouldn't the page title be modified to have the title be Tina Lawson? She is a living person, it's not her name anymore, that should be reflected. I recommend a Tina Knowles redirect to Tina Lawson - but I don't know how to do that, personally. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cajoubert (talkcontribs) 15:35, 22 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

We need a reliable source that she changed her name. Without one we presume she didn't. And even if she did change her name the article stays at the name she is most known by per WP:COMMONNAME. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:21, 22 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Her name has been changed to Tina Knowles Lawson, as confirmed by several media publications including the New York Times. Her social media handle has also changed to "mstinalawson". Angelic-alyssa (talk) 02:26, 22 July 2017 (GMT)
That is good reference for her current name. That reference should be in article to support the new name. Geraldo Perez (talk) 05:03, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Beyoncé or Beyincé[edit]

Biographies about Beyoncé Knowles state that her nother was born "Celestine Ann Beyincé".--EsotericJoe (talk) 00:22, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Beyoncé, of course, is derived from Tina's maiden name, Beyincé. Because only one of her brothers had a son, Tina had feared that her family name would die out. “I said, ‘Oh God, we’ll run out of Beyincés,’” she told the journalist Touré for Rolling Stone—thus her idea of naming her daughter in a variant of Beyincé. Her father Lumis Beyincé, didn’t much like the idea though. “My family was not happy,” Tina confirmed. “My dad said, ‘She’s gonna to be mad at you, because that’s a last name.’ And I’m like, ‘It’s not a last name to anybody but you guys!’”

Also, I have come across the following:

Hi, my real name is, Tina Beyincé Knowles-Lawson. Célestine is my real name. I’m sure that’s what you’re asking,” Mrs. Tina shared during the selfie-style video. “But, as a kid, my last name being Beyincé was a big name. I wanted my name to be ‘Linda Smith’.

And then we have her instagram message dated April 25, 2020 at https://www.instagram.com/p/B_aqEJ7jMHc/ where she stated "It is five Beyoncé children that my daddy had. Only the first three had the same spelling Beyince’ me and my youngest brother had Beyonce’ on our birth certificates . So however they spelled it on our birth certificate is how we spelled it also." She also stated both spellings are pronounced the same. Seems fairly clear what she means. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:53, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
