Citation needed

"The album was strongly criticized at its time for being anti-Soviet and right-wing politically". I have given this a "fact"-tag, as the part "at its time" seems strange to me. I can't recall any reference to criticism of Tintin (favourable or otherwise) before the 1940s (after WWII), and even then it was about Hergé more than about Tintin. Comic criticism only appeared in Europe in the 1960s, AFAIK. So some source for this statement would be appreciated. Fram 14:25, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I would not call it the most realistic thesis about the Soviet Union around. And I personally already heard some criticism about it, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was some when it came out, seems perfectly feasible. I would point to this article from Tintinologist. I personally would like references based on articles from the period it was published, but having book stores as many of the results when searching for information about the subject does not help. On a related topic, it may be useful to point out that while all other Tintin books have been published in the P.R.China, only 'Tintin in the Land of the Soviets' has not been due to it being "deemed too anti-communist by the country's censors for its criticism of the Soviet Union" [1].--Duffsta (talk) 08:23, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Number of pages

The number of pages is given as 62 in the infobox. This can't be correct, it has to be over 100. Does someone know the correct number? I'll try to find it myself as well, but can't do that now. Fram 14:25, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

First comic to appear in album form?

Was this the first comic ever published in album form? Or were there any earlier examples? -- 85.179.160.87 (talk) 01:21, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Many, starting from the Rodolphe Töpffer comics which appeared in album in French, Dutch, English, and perhaps other languages. Closer to Hergé, there were albums for e.g. Bécassine and the works of Alain Saint-Ogan. This album by Hergé may have been the first album published in Belgium, but I doubt that even that would be correct. Fram (talk) 09:00, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Quality of the article

Hello everyone. I’ve recently made quite a bit of referenced additions to this page, using the Tintinological works by Farr, Thompson, Peeters etc and I believe that I have substantially improved it. I would be much obliged if somebody could re-rate this (it’s certainly better than a start class article now!), and hopefully it’ll become a featured article in due course. Many thanks. Include link to full comic at Scribd?

I found this comic by chance in full on Scribd, and enthusiastically added it to the article, but it then appeared dubious that it would be available in full online for free. I am wondering if there is some issue with including here?

No, this work is copyrighted by a company known as Moulinsart, who maintain Herge's legacy. The Scribd version is technically illegal, I'd better delete it. (Midnightblueowl (talk) 20:52, 13 January 2011 (UTC))
