Redirect[edit]

I redirected this article to Tiruppattur as it appears that this was the intended type of article it was supposed to be (looking at the revision history). Somehow it morphed into an article about an unreferenced, non-notable temple either in or near Tiruppattur. If an article is still warranted on the Brammapuiswarar Temple please start a new article with such a title and proper citations showing its notability. Official town name for article title?[edit]

Right now the article uses Tirapathur throughout, and the official district website Tirupathur official website spells it as "Tirupathur."

But the 2011 census [1] and a news article [2] from 2019, both cited in the article, use "Tirapattur." I went ahead and put in both names in the lead text, but can anyone find a source to confirm the official spelling, since the government census and town website conflict? Would be best to match article title to that. Cheers, Fredlesaltique (talk) 01:44, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fredlesaltique, the spelling in the article was changed from "Tirupattur" to "Tirupathur" in this edit last month after many years with the previous spelling—indeed, the article is named "Tirupattur" . The article name should surely reflect the most common name for the town. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:42, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@BlueMoonset: I noticed the old edit, but whoever did it didn't cite anything. I don't really want to change the title without a clear source, or good justification. If it were the US I could look it up, but I don't know for India, so thought I'd just leave it for someone else. Cheers, Fredlesaltique (talk) 06:19, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
