The montgolfière's energy source[edit]

This Wikipedia reader would like to know: what source of energy would keep the hot air hot for the duration of the montgolfière's six-month mission -- nuclear? (A conventional montgolfière, of course, uses a burner connected to a propane tank.) 174.24.79.250 (talk) 01:19, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It does not have to be hot air, just a lighter gas than the environment. BatteryIncluded (talk) 03:22, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The article describes it as "a montgolfière (hot air balloon)". If you are correct, the article should be corrected to say "a lighter-than-air balloon". 174.24.79.250 (talk) 04:50, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If powered by a Stirling cycle nuclear power source, the heat generated by the unit could be control-vented to the gas bag for hot air operation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.148.242.100 (talk) 17:41, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
