Three and a half stone

This article states that he put on three and a half stone in muscle. First of all, it should state it in pounds and not in UK unit of measure for body mass as this is the US version of Wiki. It would coverte out to 49 pounds by the way. I would change it except for this point....their is no way he put on 49 pounds of muscle, unless he was a total stick to begin with, and did some serious steriods. Just my opinion, but an educated one. I am therefor relucent to change it to pounds, as I don't belive that he gained 49 pounds of muscle, and of course couldn't verify it either, but can't state that he absolutly didn't. I hope someone can use this info to figure out the best way to correct this article on this point.Deepintexas (talk) 19:36, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

He has said in many interviews that he gained 20 pounds for the role of Thor. So either someone miscalculated but it isn't 50 pounds, so i changed it. xpinkxcasualtyx (talk) 19:36, 12 April 2012

Erm, This is not the US version of Wiki, it is the English language version. Therefore some article are written in an UK context. Please see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Units_of_measurement for reference on the use of measurements. --101.170.255.236 (talk) 07:55, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

-

I dont see the point of what you just wrote? nobody was debating about 'stones' vs 'pounds', the problem was how much he had gained was wrong, not the units of measurement it was in. Xpinkxcasualtyx (talk) 19:55, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

-

Woaaah first, the article now states he gained 20 pounds of muscle which is actually completely lacking a source. And if someone finds a source that states his muscle-gain in stone then don't change it to "pounds" because you are just altering sources, and this article should use British-English anyway. --Τασουλα (talk) 20:20, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

-

ok now it has a source and in every interview i have read or seen him do, i have never heard him say 'stones', he always says pounds or the article always says pounds. no one is trying to step on anyones toes and use 'pounds' instead. i dont see why this is still an issue. plus in the WP units of measurement, 'lbs' is JUST as acceptable as 'kgs', stones isnt even used, so the whole debate over which unit of measurement to use (which id like to point out that it was NOT the issue to begin with but rather someone stated he gained 50 pounds when it was really 20 pounds, forget the UoM) is just silly. Edit request on 15 July 2012

Hi,

In Hiddleston's Early Life section, the line "He went on to act at The Dragon School" isn't quite right. He did attend that school - and did act there - but it was before Eton College, not afterwards. Citations aren't needed: The Dragon is a preparatory school for pupils aged 7-13; Eton is a public school for pupils aged 13-18.

Thanks!

Djpheeze (talk) 19:17, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for that. I'll go ahead and fix that :) Xpinkxcasualtyx (talk) 14:30, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Edit request (15 July 2012) - Filmography

In the film and television entries of the filmography, I think the three Shakespeare entries under 2012 - Henry IV Part 1, Henry IV Part 2 and Henry V - should be deleted and replaced by 'The Hollow Crown', with a link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hollow_Crown_(TV_series). Role can be 'Prince Hal/Henry V', and notes 'TV series (3 episodes)'.

Considering http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00s90hz, it is clear that the plays are considered as episodes of a series rather than separate films.

Juskei (talk) 21:35, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

I see where you are coming from but Henry IV Parts 1 and 2 and Henry V are all separate productions in their own right. Even on the Hollow Crown wiki page, they have them separated. But since they have a wiki page for parts 1 and 2 together, I'll combine those but leave Henry V separate. Unless another editor choices otherwise. Xpinkxcasualtyx (talk) 13:28, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
Looks fine with the altered links (they were going to the plays before). I think part of the problem is that especially with BBC productions (but often British TV in general) it's unclear what is classified as a 'TV film'. Juskei (talk) 16:44, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

I'd like to translate this article into Hungarian. I've never translated anything on Wikipedia before, but I'd like to give it a try. Sundosia (talk) 20:25, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

You would need to take that up with the Hungarian Wikipedia, http://hu.wikipedia.org. Best of luck. —KuyaBriBriTalk 20:33, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

Images

The page is over crowded with images. Just because they are free doesn't mean we have to use them all. They were all taken within the last two years and his look hasn't changed that dramatically. Perhaps we can limit them to a few, they don't have to be the ones I selected. Perhaps the most current for the infobox, the earliest and the one with black hair to show a contrast? I know articles like Scarlet Johannsen have more images but her article is longer and can handled more images and it covers a longer period of time.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 13:11, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

I'm fine with that, the newest one from the Cannes film festival doesn't really belong because it looks very similar to his infobox pic, but maybe the one with the black hair? You can remove the pics if you find it necessary. Lady Lotus (talk) 13:15, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
Okay I respreaded the images so I only had to remove one. I put the Cannes image infobox since it is his most current. Feel free to change.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 13:26, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

Edit

Please insert this text regarding Tom Hiddleston's recent work as a narrator on The Love Book App at the bottom of 'Career' section:

In 2013 Hiddleston narrated poetry on The Love Book App, an interactive anthology of love literature developed by Allie Byrne Esiri.[1]

I added The Love Book next to the poetry he read for iF Poems because I want to say it's the same thing but they just changed the name. Lady Lotus (talk) 12:07, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

MTV's Sexiest Man Alive for 2013

We know that Adam Levine was awarded by People Magazine as their sexiest man alive last year but MTV begged to disagree and Tom Hiddleston won (77%) from Michael Fassbender. Is it okay if that bit will be included in this article? Maybe even in the Awards table? His awards from MTV for being the best villain is here, I was thinking maybe it is okay for something like that to be mentioned too.

Here's where I got the news: www.mtv.com/news/articles/1718972/tom-hiddleston-sexiest-man-alive.jhtml

Family relation to Dagny Servaes and Evi Servaes

Hi, I'm doing the family tree of the Servaes-family. Tom is part of this family tree and I was wondering whether it would be interesting to add that other movie artists in Tom's family tree are Dagny Servaes and her daugther Evi Servaes.

SpelgroepPhoenix (talk) 11:32, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Are they notable (meaning do they have their own Wikipedia page)? If not, then there is no reason to add it. If they do have their own pages then yes they can be added, with reliable sourcing. LADY LOTUSTALK 13:25, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
I sense some tense here, and I would prefer to use non-violent communication, because we all try to add to providing better encyclopedic information, don't we. So, my suggestion would be to communicate on a base of mutual respect.

Yes, they do have their own wikipedia pages, in several countries in fact: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dagny_Servaes and https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evi_Servaes. Maybe, you could google the names as well, çause you may find some websites and pictures made public that provide you with additional information.

No, according to the laws of my country I cannot provide you detailed information with regard to living persons because of privacy-regulations in my country, like Evi Servaes and Tom Huddleston. Neither would I out of respect for my living family members.

However, the public information on the family tree is available at http://www.genealogieonline.nl/stamboom-servaes-neuss/stamboom/I164/stambos.php and if you check this page: http://www.thepeerage.com/p60026.htm and http://www.thepeerage.com/p60027.htm. you can verify things for yourself, based on the information provided in the family tree. SpelgroepPhoenix (talk) 07:43, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Non-violent communication? What are you talking about? It was simple question of are they notable or not. LADY LOTUSTALK 09:11, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
I might have misunderstood you, but I felt tension based on your message. I get uncomfortable when being addressed in a bold letter type. It comes at me as if it was 'shouting' and I prefer harmony and equality. And it may be related to my experience with the English wikipedia. I've experienced quite some hostility and anger with some users and it makes me afraid to add things to the wikipedia pages even if I could add knowledge. Even when it comes to pages I developed and to me that is unnecessary and sad . We are all human here and most of us come with the best intentions, so let us enrich each other in compassion with the other. I hope I have enriched your knowledge by sharing my knowledge and I leave it up to you to add this to the item. Kind regards,

SpelgroepPhoenix (talk) 10:16, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Lol, no, you just seemed like a new user so I was just emphasizing the need to have reliable sourcing if/when adding the information to his page, since a lot of new users don't know the importance of WP:RS (sorry if you're not a new user, I've just never seen you edit before). That's all, I wasn't yelling :) LADY LOTUSTALK 11:17, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
No, I'm not a new user. And I do understand the need of reliable and verifiable sources. It is important for all of us. Nevertheless , I dislike the way how some users try to draw the attention of newbies to the protocol. To me Wikipedia is about sharing, cooperation, encouragement, enrichment and equality. What I have experienced was more or less Orwellian: 'Some pigs are more equal than other pigs' and the newby is the underdog. I got scared away while being beaten with the protocols. I'm grateful to find your support. Thank you.

SpelgroepPhoenix (talk) 13:40, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

I don't try to beat anyone over the head with policies and guidelines but I know that when I was a new user, that wasn't something I was familiar with. There are some users that have edited for a while that still don't really understand it. So that's just something I try to emphasize with any user that wants to add something. LADY LOTUSTALK 16:32, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
Also, do you know what their relation is? From what I can gather, (I'm terrible at reading family trees), they are like 4th cousins? Because Dagny is cousins with Tom's great-grandfather, Reginald Maxwell Servaes. LADY LOTUSTALK 12:07, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
Since I am not native English, I would not dare to say anything about the relation, because I am not familiair with English terms that are used in family trees. So, maybe you should find an expert on that part. To me Julius Servaes and Frederick Servaes were brothers born in Düsseldorf and while Julius went to Liverpool, Frederick went to Goslar in Germany. Julius is related to Tom and Frederick is related to Dagny.

SpelgroepPhoenix (talk) 13:40, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

I added Dagny's relation to Tom in his Early life section with the reference. Good? LADY LOTUSTALK 16:32, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
