add[edit]

I want to add the most recent win. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.42.174.41 (talk) 04:57, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They have been to the NCAA Tournament 18 times now, and NOT 17. Please correct. Your own data box will indicate that fact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikerehling (talkcontribs) 21:58, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

unlock[edit]

Can you please open this back up for editing. I need to add the second tourney win to his record and put in the loss in the sweet sixten. Then I need to fix his winning % and overall record.68.42.174.41 (talk) 19:09, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{importance}[edit]

Seems really unnotable. Skinnyweed 01:34, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

well, for basketball fans he's one of the greatest coaches of all time.
This article discusses the current men's basketball coach at a D-I major conference (Big Ten) school, generally one of the better basketball programs in D-I, and who has won a national championship. That should be enough to rate a Wikipedia article, though possibly more info is needed. 128.190.62.54 19:37, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"He led the team to a National Championship in 2000. He has also coached his teams to four regular-season Big Ten Championships, two Big Ten Tournament titles, four Final Four appearances, three National Coach of the Year awards and nine straight NCAA Tournament appearances since becoming head coach in 1995." "Since he became head coach in 1995, every player that he has recruited and who completed their full eligibility has gone to at least one Final Four round of the NCAA tournament." Does this not seem significant to you? OneGyT/T|C 20:45, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So does it, and can we remove the template, or what? OneGyT/T|C 10:50, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I vote for removing the importance template. Izzo is clearly important enough to warrant an entry in Wikipedia as a D-I basketball coach.Bpholt
Same. OneGyT/T|C 19:53, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's been almost a month, and the consensus seems to be that the article should be included. I am removing the {importance} template. Bpholt 18:46, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

edit[edit]

I removed the weasel words phrase "Michigan State is considered one of the nation's elite programs." 61.90.155.5

  • why did you do that, they are. 2 national championships and repeatedly good performances are pretty noticable. LukeTheSpook (talk) 22:08, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Info box[edit]

Can anyone come up with a photo? Also, I caouldn't figure out how to add more years and schools to his "Schools as a coach" list. He was assitstant coach at MSU and briefly head coach at Northern Michigan before becoming head coach. Actually, I'm not sure this list is really necessary in his case. Could probably do without this section of his info box. Thoughts?

The info box says "Team Record" but appears to show "Head Coaching Record" (across multiple teams). I don't see any way to correct this given the infobox format. Anyone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.6.44.195 (talk) 00:19, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Article could benefit from additional footnotes.

The reference section has redundancies.

  • Ken Mannie; Mike Vorkapich. "Spartan Basketball - Training With a Football Mentality appears three times, with two working URLs and a dead one.
  • "Maui Invitational: Strength of Schedule" by Kevin McNeill appears twice.

High School Player Development[edit]

Delvon Roe was/is in the same class as Draymon Green in 2008. This should be corrected. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.118.62.128 (talk) 00:58, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Izzo Staying With Michigan State[edit]

The final sentence in the introductory paragraph about Izzo, "Izzo is currently considering a head coaching position with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the National Basketball Association.", should now be removed as a local news station here in Lansing, MI, WLNS-TV 6, is reporting that Izzo has informed the MSU Board of Trustees that he will remain at Michigan State. Season Records & Stats need updating[edit]

I did the math to see if the W-L was correct and it isn't. His overall W-L should show 461-178 and winning % should be .721, not .713.216.157.195.66 (talk) 19:18, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
