Thomas Murphy (footballer)Tom Murphy (Australian footballer, born 1986) – All sources call him Tom, not Thomas (WP:COMMONNAME). (There is another Australian footballer with the same name born in 1998, so both titles would need to be clarified accordingly if the move is made) TeraTIX 07:41, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've made the English footballer change already, as it was clearly ambiguous as it was.The-Pope (talk) 15:14, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer this move. (Related: I have moved Tom Murphy (American football) to Tom Murphy (American footballer) for consistency with the other articles). TeraTIX 12:45, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
American football, and some other sports, like ice hockey, prefer to use the sport's name as the qualifier, not the name of the competitor in the sport. Consistency within a sport is followed more than consistency across the whole encyclopedia. Expect it to be reverted. The-Pope (talk) 15:05, 8 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, okay. I've moved it back. Someone should probably sort this out someday, but I have a strange feeling that a discussion will be more trouble than it's worth. TeraTIX 01:50, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
