Thomas Murphy (footballer) → Tom Murphy (Australian footballer, born 1986) – All sources call him Tom, not Thomas (WP:COMMONNAME). Semi-Support but move to Tom Murphy (footballer, born 1986). Putting Australian in the title doesn't aid in the main disambiguation and just makes it longer. I propose the following footballers from Thomas Murphy#Sports:

- Tommy Murphy (Australian footballer) (1903–1958), Australian rules footballer for South Melbourne
- Tom Murphy (footballer, born 1986) (born 1986), Australian rules footballer for Hawthorn and the Gold Coast (was Thomas Murphy (footballer))
- Tom Murphy (footballer, born 1998) (born 1998), Australian rules footballer for North Melbourne (was Tom Murphy (Australian footballer))
- Tom Murphy (English footballer) (born 1991), English footballer for Farnborough (was Tom Murphy (footballer))
- Tommy Murphy (Gaelic footballer) (1921–1985), Gaelic footballer for County Laois, Ireland

American football, and some other sports, like ice hockey, prefer to use the sport's name as the qualifier, not the name of the competitor in the sport.
